If you seriously feel it's a problem then you should have sufficient willpower to quit-maybe check out AA or see a therapist. Finding something else to take the place of your evening cocktails is also a good suggestion, as long as it also makes you feel good.
That said, I don't think just a couple of drinks a night is so bad unless they're huge drinks.

Start by seeing the consequences of your action. Is your wife mad at you for drinking? Do you feel like crap in the morning?
Maybe that should be a reason to stop.
Options for a new way are many. Might I sugest a sport to get outside for a while? Get healthy again? You'll feel a lot better, better than drinking.

Sweat out your anxiety, your pain, i don't know you, but push yourself to sit in a sauna longer each time. Just remember that when you were a kid, you didn't drink what made you really enjoy life.

Of course it relaxes you, that's the good point. You don't sound like an angry drinker, my uncle who drank whiskey for 40years was also the same. He stopped because of the thought of his influence on his kids. Sometimes just pray to God, because no body wants to help you, or sometimes they harm you in ways they do not know.

It's a very hard thing to do & you need to have friends around you who aren't drinkers to support you. Herbal medicines that can help, Chamomlie, Hops (decreases the desire for alcohol). Good luck !! Librium is a RX to help stop also

first of all...u have to accept that it wud be very difficult for u to leave alcohol coz u have a habit of it...but one thing which is even more important is that leaving it will help u TREMENDOUSLY...
so the first step is DETERMINATION and SELF-CONFIDENCE
now try to do a bit of breathing exercises EVERYDAY...don't do it for hrs. or something but i am sure u can give 10minutes to it everyday...
concentrate on your breathing with eyes closed for 5-10 min.
before opening ur eyes say a small little prayer...and ask God to give u the strength to overcome ur habit of consuming alcohol....
u can do this before going to bed also...

now whenever u consume alcohol now onwards..before drinking say it aloud to yourself..." I AM DOING A WRONG THING WHICH WILL CAUSE TREMENDOUS HARM TO MY HEALTH". even then if u can't control..go ahead...drink...but say this every time...

i am sure by these means u WILL leave alchohol one day and feel much relaxed and happy without it..
best of luck ma'am,
my prayers r with u.

It's a two-step process:

1) Don't drink alchohol
2) If you find yourself picking up an alchoholic beverage, see step 1

Repeat process forever.........
