Very normal... I've been seeking professional help for this exact feeling for about 6 months now.
I have good days where I feel "nothing." Things that once gave me much joy and happiness make me feel nothing. The technical term for that is anhidonia.
Moods can be caused my many factors: biology, environment, and or past events
Just always know even if you don't feel up, life is more than wonderful, and just keep your head up, because even if there are low times, there are high times too :-D

Hi . Sorry to hear you're feeling sad today. Sometimes we don't need a specific reason to feel like that, some of us just seem to suffer. I'm sure you do have some things going for you though.
Take my life. I am currently going through my 3rd. divorce. She went of with a younger model. So I've lost my home and the everyday access to my young daughter. A month after we broke up I lost my job and suffered extreme money problems. I also have several health issues at the moment. However. I am alive, and have worked in several placements via an agency. So have met some nice people. Also earned some good money. I've decided to go forward and change things and tomorrow move away from where I am now. (south coast of England) To a small island off the north coast. I've secured a good job there and, hopefully, good accommodation. My life is moving forward. Although I can't get rid of the health issues that easy. lol. But what has improved my way of life has been to adopt a positive outlook and see the good that is there. I also do voluntary work for a disabled charity and witness real distress. If the sun is shinning then that's a good start. Remember your cup is also half full not just half empty. Go outside and smile at people. You'll be surprised at the response. Take care.

Try to exercise releases endorphins. You might also want to try the herbal supplement Sam-e or St.Johns Wort( Do not take these if you are on birth control). Keep in mind that feeling blue sometimes is very healthy and completely natural. Take your sad times to contemplate where you are in life and if you are happy where you are. But seriously, a good work out will make you feel good.

Hell, its sunny at you house? It's 2:30 at my house. Kurt Cobain is 40 today. I have been coughing for...aw crap. I'm sorry you are sad but, hey! Thats all I got. I thought If I said HEY loud enough, you'd smile and we'd go to the mall and get Starbucks. Did you think you were alone? I'm there. I'm in college and waiting here for you with the rest of your new friends. Yep, college has misfits too.

At times, yes. If the whole world was happy all at the same time, we'd actually have a problem on our hands! If your depression reaches a point where it consistently interferes with day-to-day life, that could be a mental illness. Otherwise, yes, it can be normal as long as you are happy at other times.
