i have a male and female pitbull....they are some strong dogs....my male is really stout with a think neck (i can't keep a collar on him because his neck is the size of his head) and my female is tall....he knows he's a tough stud because when you walk he will walk along side of you and nude you and send you into the table in the kitchen....they are very loving dogs...but very protective of their owners and territory...but i would say by far that pitbulls are stronger than akitas

Well I have been a professional dog groomer for 10 years now and out of the four I would have to say a St. Bernard. They are probably the smartest out of them all, and very loyal. They do require regular grooming and of course daily exercise and training. Seniors tend to have bad arthritis and heart problems so keep that in mind. For a low maintenance but strong dog, a pitbull or rottie would be best. Rotties tend to be easier to train than pits, and less hyper. Pits can be very strong and loyal dogs, but you have to make sure it comes from a good breeder, not a puppy mill or the parking lot in wal-mart. Al ot of pits tend to be inbred and have health and neurological problems.

I'd say akita, that is if we are talking purebred american pit bull terriers, not those huge mixes that bad breeders and people on the streets think are pit bulls, which are usually american bulldog mixes.
