WW III will start as a war between Israel and the Middle East. Slowly the whole world will become a part of it.

Unfortunately, WWIII will be global suicide, therefore in answer to your question, as long as there's rational superpowers who believe in MAD, there will be no WW3. By definition, the next world war wil be nuclear, how could it not. In a nuclear war there will be no winner. In a nuclear world, the only true enemy is war itself.

The next World War will involve a nuclear exchange, how could it not if both sides believe no price for victory will be too high. In the first 30 minutes, nearly a billion people will have been vaporised, mostly in the US, Russia, Europe, China and Japan. Another 1.5 billion will die shortly thereafter from radiation poisoning. The northern hemisphere will be plunged into prolonged agony and barbarity.

Eventually the nuclear winter will spread to the southern hemisphere and all plant life will die. You ask what country would be victorious, you are asking when will we commit global suicide. My answer is it won't happen soon because the larger superpowers are more rational than the rump states in the middle east.

While we hear talk of a nuclear-Iran or a confrontation with NorKor, little is said about the 2 bulls in the glass shop. The arsenals of Russia and the US are enough to destroy a million Hiroshimas. But there are fewer than 3000 cities on the Earth with populations of 100,000 or more. You cannot find anything like a million Hiroshimas to obliterate. Prime military and industrial targets that are far from cities are comparatively rare. Our biggest threat is from an accidental launch by the Russians.

At the point of global suicide, it doesn't matter who is on what side.... In a nuclear age like i said before, the only true enemy is war itself.

lets tackle this serveral ways...
one being that the technicality of the question is flawed.
The First World War was in fact NOT the Great War at the begining of the last century.
The Imperial wars fought by the French Empire and the British Empire were in fact the first WAR ever fought between multiple nations across the ENTIRE GLOBE. SO one the 3rd World War was the war with Hitler.

Thats not the cruz of your question. You are asking if we are entering a period of another world war... Well.. not really.
As with the collapse of any great empire there is a period of chaos during which time the unlucky soles who live in that time period undergo several wars, years of fear and often experience WORSE conditions then under Imperial rule. We are begining to see the decline of the last of the Worlds great Imperial powers. The USA is slowly going into decline - it may as yet revive itself - but it most likely going to run out of steam and become no more then a Russia of tomorrow within 100 years.

are we entering a world war - no - are we in one? - no. If for some reason a World War breaks out i'm happy to announce Australia and most of the Western World will be on the same side as China. So 50-60% of the worlds population with 70-80% of the worlds wealth will be on one side - dont fear that... odds are you wont even notice any war.

World War III was the Cold War. The current conflict is World War IV.

Many consider World War III to be the cold war that existed between the Soviet Bloc and NATO. Given the amount of resources and movement of equipment during this era, it could very well be considered a long-standing war. Hence, a new global conflict borne out of current events may very well be considered the fourth World War.

If such a global conflict were to start, such hotspots to ignite the war would include:

-Israel/Lebanon/Palestine - This has always been a powder keg, during the cold war it threatened to be the fuse that would touch off a much larger conflict between the USSR and the US.

-India/Pakistan - Long time bitter rivals, especially over Kashmir. A conflict between these two could drag neighboring countries into the fray.

-China/Taiwan - China makes no attempt to hide its desire to claim Taiwan, indeed bolstering its military each year for the eventual showdown. Such a conflict would likely draw the US into the fight, as the US is sworn to come to Taiwan's aid in such an event.

-Iran - Given current nuclear tensions, Iran could touch off a global conflict, or in the very least bring more chaos to an otherwise unstable region.

-Russia/China - It has been theorized that as China's economy continues to grow and gain a greater apetite for resources, they'll eventually invade parts of Russia and Khazastan for their needs. Russia wouldn't stand for such an action, and that would lead to a very major conflict between two powerful nations.\

Those are a few potentials, time frame could be anywhere from today on to a few decades for the start of potential conflicts.

WW III has already started: the war on terrorism will be won or lost depending on our will as a nation to stand up to islamo fascism. I believed that after 9/11 we would have realized the threat but after 5 1/2 years, it has already forgotten.

I also believe that it will take at least 25000 deaths from a suitcase nuke to awaken us.

Bush is trying to conquer the middle east so the United States will have control over their resources. Mainly Natural Gas and Oil. Bush would like to outsource China and Russia so they will have to deal directly with America instead. However China and Russia have great interest as well. Especially with Iran. My guess is that Bush will continue his invasion of Iraq long enough to get his foot in the door with Iran. However if Bush over steps his boundries in Iran he may pisss off China and Russia enough to get them motivated for war. Triggering WW3. Of course there is always the possibility that this is a premeditated plan of action involving the cooperation of China, Russia, and the U.S. in an effort to reduce the world population. We will have to wait and see, however one thing is sure...things are starting to simmer.

It started at the end of WWII, and continued through the Cold War, and we're in the final phase that begun on 9-11-2001. It will end at Armageddon.

Probably...
There are conflicts world wide like in the middle east and ethnic cleansing in Darfur, but these conflicts have been going on for a long time so possibly not. Just try to stay optomistic and hope that it doesn't come soon.

I think WW THREE started on 9/11. It is a low level conflict right now but it will heat up as time goes along. Expect a nuke to be used by 2010.....
