I was wondering if anyone could help?

After reading a few of the other cat themed questions, I have heard a lot about a running water cat bowl.
My cat will not drink from her normal water bowl, has anyone got one of these, are they any good?

Thanks

i think's it's a bit like one of those water fountain features that you can have in your house. They are supposed to be really good, or you could just run the tap when your cat is in and is looking for a drink - much cheaper!

My cat has to have her water bowl in the kiticken and I have to put fresh water it it everyday. Also if I leave the bathroom facet running she will drink out of that any time. Also you could try bottled water because " The chlorine in fresh tap water irritates sensitive parts of the cat's nose or Let tap water sit for 24 hours before giving it to a cat. " You can try using the kind that had a reserve (on top). As for a running water one I guess that are popular... I found a few web sites for you that have several suggestions for you! I like the top one the best and the bottom one tells you how to make your own!

"Many cats, including one of mine, refuse to drink out of a bowl. They prefer running water. Some drink from a slowly running faucet, but you do not want to leave a faucet running all day. Luckily, there are 'fountain bowls' available, which can provide your cat with running water 24 hours a day."

The running water fountain is pretty good and cats seem to like it. If you want a cheaper option before you shell out the money for it and have your cat not like it, try leaving an extra bowl of water in the living room - or wherever your cat spends alot of time. My cats will drink from their normal water bowl only out of necessity but they treat the living room bowl like it's the best tasting thing ever.

good luck!

I've never had one of these as my cats are happy to drink out of a bowl. I always give them filtered tap water as they don't like the chlorine in tap water. I change the water and wash the bowls every day so they are always fresh.. I think if you have to leave your cats for any length of time the water fountains are a brilliant idea - friends have one for their cats and it works a treat.

I have one of these and the cats adore it - I like it because it means that they don't have standing water and they have the choice of either drinking from the water bowl or drinking of the running water section and it is regularly filtered when it moves back so it always oxygenated and the cost is about 1p a day to run

Yes, I had one til it broke. My cats drank far more water, and that is important for the male cats especially. I now mix water in with their wet food like a soup and they love it so I haven't replaced the fountain. Some cats won't drink unless the water is actually moving. Try to get one that has a silent motor or you'll go out of your mind listening to it.

My cats will drink out of a bowl but will also drink rainwater and running tapwater but they really go mad for the fresh water with dechlorinator when I am changing my fishtank.
Apparently running tapwater tastes less of chemicals and that is why they like it so I expect the same would be true with a fountain.

I just got a cat and she won't drink from her bowl. I wonder if it has something to do with standing water. I hope it will help to get a running water fountain and it's not something more serious. I'm not a pet person at all, getting a cat was my husbands idea so I should probably make him deal with this.

some cats just don't like tap water, others don't like fresh water.
My cat will only drink from a bowl thats outside and goes all green. when we clean the bowl out she wont use it again until it goes green.

Mine tends to drink stored rain water, either from puddles, pond, buckets, etc, no matter how dirty or horrible it looks and refuses to drink out of his bowl.
