Shivji when he was young must have drunk his mother's milk--did anybody consider it than to be Veg or Non Veg.
For that matter you too must have been breast-fed and even drunk Cow's milk--what did you think it was or you never gave it a thought at all, till now?
Even if it is Non-Veg, it has definitely not resulted in any death to obtain?
In short, the question of Veg/Non Veg does not arise in the minds of the giver at all? Yeah medically though, the question is important owing to it's cholesterol content--being an animal-product? With the advance of knowledge,we also know that Plants are living things and they have invariably to be killed for the cool-comfort of Vegetarians?
Now since Shivji is actually not going to drink it and even if He is, He is not cholesterol-conscious so the question you have asked is irrelevant.
In fact, you could now pose a question, instead: Should Vegetarians eat plant-products also, knowing that they are invariably killed ?

It is non vegan. Not only is the calf starved to procure milk, but the cow is injected with harmful hormones to increase milk production. Moreover, it is unnatural to drink milk, have you ever heard of any other animal that drinks milk beyond infancy? And it is just a deception that milk is necessary for health. I have not had milk for two years now and I am perfectly healthy. The reason why they pour it on Shiva Linga is that Hindus are not veg because of ethics, but because of religion. Check out

Sir does mothers milk seem to be non veg to u. then cows milk is nonveg.

anything that is got my killing or disturbing a animal is called non veg. So cows milk is never non veg.

Morover as Mr. Rakesh has answered ur question, the notion of veg and nonveg differs in the Hindu mythology point of view.

Milk veg or non veg is your question, any thing which is made by nature should not be addressed as veg or non veg, because some one will use it for living, first let me know how you address one particular stone to be LINGA only you have named it that why? No any thing in this Universe is food for some one or other, then what is veg or non-veg. Secondly what ever you offer to GOD, which is also your belief, with good mind you offer any thing to ALMIGHTY is taken by him as a good gesture, so don't get confused in veg or non-veg as you are also going to be in some ones food list one day and i assure you then there would be no VEG or no NON-VEG issue there. As in GURBANI it is every thing food for some thing and GOD always loves all his creations without any Hate and Love formula.

The notion of veg or non-veg is not one of religion or plant and animals.

The distinction here lies in the property of the particular food item. Meat is discouraged by ancient Hindus since it has "active" qualities which fuel sexual desires, anger etc.

Apart from that, Hinduism is founded in meditation. The ultimate state of God realization in Hinduism ( and Buddhism ) is via meditation. Meditation requires a calm and concentrated mind which is achieved easily with a diet of "non active" food items which are mostly of plant variety. Plants also have less natural toxins and take up less energy to digest thus providing the body with the needed energy for concentration. And without toxins running in your blood streams, concentration comes even more easily.

In that way, milk would qualify as a non-veg food item.

Non Veg

Milk is considered as veg. No harm is done to the animal or its generation for the milk. Cow is able to produce more than sufficient milk for her calf. The extra milk is used by the human beings. So it's 100% veg...

Flesh is non-veg as animals are killed for it. Eggs are non-veg as a generation is killed.

It all depends how you look at it. We Indians are hippo critic and fanatical about the distinction of veg/non-veg.Curd which is full of alive bacteria is termed as veg. Egg which had ceased to be alive is called as non-veg.

Goddess Kali we offer non-veg items for pooja.

I think that which purifies us and the food which we can take without any feeling of guilt , inhibition and restriction is the need of the hour.

So the solution is whether the food is GOOD or BAD as per my personal taste/liking , rather than tainting it as Veg or non-veg.

As long as any kind of food is being produced by an animal rather than a plant or tree or any type of herbs, Its a non vegetarian item.

Examples are Milk from Cow, Buffalo, Goat, Camel etc, Eggs of any kind.etc.
