Last night i went to my boyfriends parents house thinking it would just be, myself, him and his mum 'n' dad just having a meal as it was his Dads birthday. however when we arrived his whole family was there, cousins, aunts, uncles, friends etc. i'd never met any of them before, i wasn't formally introduced to all of them and i just felt like i'd been thrown in at the deep end.
I'm quite a shy person and the thought of being in a room full of people i don't know actually makes me very nervous. my boyfriend knows me well enough to know this but he wasn't at all sympathetic. The worst thing for me was all the sexual inuendo's and comments made by everyone. like his cousin going on about taking him and his dad upstairs to try out the new bed and stuff. i do have a sense of humour but i was more disturbed than amused!
Is it normal to make wise cracks about getting it on with family members or is it just plain wrong? I've never felt so uncomfortable in all my life

The worst situation I have been is when I was at my husband-to-bes parents over xmas. We are getting married in June and have been together 2 years. The phone rang and it was his ex-wife who he hasnt seen for years. She said she was in the area and was popping in. He tried to deter her but she was having none of it!!
When she arrived, she had twins of about 1 year old with her, she had just split from her boyfriend and was making all the suggestions in the world that she wanted my partner backl!!
I was sat there like a lemon!! To make it worse she asked how old I was and when I said 40 she said "Oh I suppose you look ok for your age!" CHEEKY *****!! My partner was highly embarrassed and I was just damn right fuming!!!

Your boyfriend probably hasnt meant to embarrass you. Some families are just like that and are quite outgoing. It must have been pretty embarassing for you though as you are shy. You will probably laugh about this in a few years time whwn you know all of his family really well

3 years ago I met a lady online. She had been married for 20 years, divorced for 1 year & her children ,19 & 18 ,were on their own. We met for lunch a few times and she appeared to have a lot of potential(job, stabilty, good chemistry between us) At lunch she asked me if I would like to attend a party w/her on Friday night.I said sure.I asked her what i needed to wear she said a sport coat, tie ,slacks would be preferred. She picked me up, we drove to a church, then went in.To my surprise the party was her daughters wedding! She introduced me to her ex, his wife, kids ,family etc. I was completely shocked! When we left she said that she was glad I came & that the family seemed to like me. Needless to say we did not see each other again!

When I was about 17, I was giving the girlfriend one on her Mum's highly polished dining room table - when her Mum and Dad walked in after a night out. That was pretty awkward!

that is just the way some people are
the first time i went to meet my bf's family:
we went for the weekend yeah, and everything went real well, they were really lovely and we had a couple of drinks the friday night, so when everyone went to bed, my bf and i started getting quite loved up. asking him if he's got protection, he says no, and runs to go check if he can find some in his brothers room, all to no prevail, so the next morning his brother let it slip to his dad, and they thought it would be funny to wake us up, give us a couple of boxes of condoms, while his mother played afromans song "she wont let me f.u.c.k"
i nearly died!!!! while they thought its SO funny!
