Why can't they get out there and push?
I am sure it will help get a little winter flab off as well.
Safe, good for the environment, see, if a billion (1/7th) of the world's total population will use push instead of gas, they can save on average, a billion gallons of gas each week, maybe more, depending on how many times a week they use it!
Why didn't some smart scientist think this up, instead of me?

One very simple reason----
People's concern over the envoirnment is over what YOU and I are doing----not what THEY are doing----It is US that they want to change---They aren't changing a thing--- because they don't have to !!
And, besides, what THEY do isn't THAT bad at all ---don't you see !!

They may want to save the environment but doesn't mean that they are ready to give up their physical comforts. And many of them are so out of shape that they will collapse from a heart attack if they try to do that sort of manual labor.
Your calculation about 1 billion people using manual lawn mowers seems to be exaggerated since I feel that many mowers are not there. So, the savings will not be that much.
People are looking for tecnological solutions, not solutions which take them back in time.

The powered mower was invented to save the hard work involved in using the manual type, and people don't want to go back. Better they get smaller, hybrid & electric cars. Time someone built a rechargeable battery powered mower, guys!

All the equipments and instruments, gadgets are invented to lessen the work of human beings. we are addicted to laziness. Most of the inventions made man lazier. If we are hardworking enough and resoved to not to use any kind of things which leads to pollution can change the scinerio

Cause people don't care that much about the environment or they're lazy like me. I also have a snowblower, yeah I could use a shovel...but sometimse it's just too much now.

You see? That's the problem. We humans... 'Sigh' are always (for our own convenience) using all sorts of technology to help us in our work and stuff, but are unwittingly polluting the environment. 'Sigh...'
