Jonah was running from the assignment that God gave him....in the other direction.
This story shows that God cannot be ignored...or bettered.
And God can use ANY method to achieve his purposes.
Jonah was very scared of the job that was required of him...To preach God's standards to a people who were just not interested...just like today.
While he was ' being transported' he was protected from any harm that might occur in the whale...or "fish", which is the true translation. It was not necessarily a whale.
We have chosen a whale because it is the largest marine animal capable of swallowing a man...that we know of.

It wasn't a whale. It was a big fish. Whale is not a fish. Whale shark is the largest fish that could accomodate a man in his belly but this fish won't eat anything bigger than a golf ball. The story is a myth

When i was young, I used to say that my life was a pattern, it seemed to go around in circles and then the madness set in. One can either try to master the madness, then they become insane but cannot see it, or they see the cycle and break down their pride and seek the help they need.
Your questions are not logical ones, but they insult the bible because you lack spiritual beliefs, yet you ask of spritual things. You want spiritual answers but even then you will not be pleased with what you recieve. So far its like me going to the LGBT thread and tormenting people who truly believe that GOD created them the way that they are.

Whales normally feed on plankton. He may have been difficult to pass.
