Have you also tried www.photo.net and www.photosig.com? There's also www.usefilm.com and www.treklens.com to view, as well. All of these sites, by the way, also have free tutorials and lessons or information to read on photography (film AND digital).
If you have a film SLR, and you're not sure about going digital, how about getting a scanner and you can scan your prints?
Or, there are several somewhat affordable beginner digital cameras on the market, like the non-interchangeable lens (but it's 12X lens) Canon S3 iS, or the beginner level digital Nikon D40.
Or the better Nikon D50 with the kit lens.
Oh, there's also the D70S, an older model that goes for about what the D50 goes for but is still in popular use today all over the world and is for really avid amateurs to advanced and intermediate amateur photographers.
If you REALLY want a Poor Man's Pro Digital Camera, consider the Nikon D80 and I would recommend the very versatile Nikkor AF DX 18-135mm lens. (The D80 is very popular because it mimics the pro level Nikon D200).
If you REALLY like to take photos, go for it. It's fun and keeps you busy (plus keeps the gray cells excited and active). Good luck and best wishes.
