1. Great shopping - lots of shopping malls especially along Nathan Road.
2. Great food - especially Cantonese food like Dim Sum and Roast Goose.
3. Friendly people - better than Mainland China anytime
4. The people there speaks more English
5. Visit their many temples
6. Visit the famous street markets eg. Ladies market for great bargains and cheap stuffs.
7. Many pubs and cafes on Lan Kwai Fong Road
8. Visit Lantau Island - beautiful
9. Buy branded stuff in HK - much cheaper than Mainland China
10. Last but not least - visit HK Disneyland
There you go...10 reasons for you. I chose Hong Kong anytime over Shanghai.

You obvious haven't been to Hong Kong before. Before you say anything, look up Hong Kong in Google. "poor"!!?? Far from it. It is rich, advanced, and modern. It puts US and Canada to shame!
