Hello fellow moms and dads. I have a 2year old and an almost empty bank account. I want to stay home with my baby until the age of 2.9 or 3 and in order to do this I need to work form home. I am having serious problems finding real work at home oppurtunities, everything I come upon on the internet requires an investment, which I don't have. It is very important for me to stay home with my child until 2.9 or 3, I don't want to dump my baby in daycare full time to work so i am wondering if there are any moms or dads working form home that pull in at least $800 a month without having to put in a serious investment? I only have about $20 to invest. Please your ideas and experiences will help.

I'm a stay home mom too to my 15 yr old baby girl. Like you, I'd been surfing the net looking for work from home opportunities but yes, all require quite an investment that I can't afford. How about selling used items like the clothes/toys/etc that you're baby has outgrown or isn't using anymore? There's the yahoo auctions or ebay or Trade Me (NZ),depending on your location. It might not be big but, it can help alleviate your income. It doesn't require a big investment/capital as well.I tried it and has been doing it up to now, and it's quite good. Good luck and God Bless!

I think that the other suggestions you've gotten sounds great. I would say try watching 1 or 2 other kids per week. Check out your state laws and find out how many kids you can have in your house before it turns into a "daycare", in Illinois you can have under 8. By having 2 other kids in your house you could probably generate $200/week therefore covering the $800/month you're looking for.

Definitely try and find kids around your child's age, and it will become fun for him as well. He will have playmates at his disposal and if you have the space it can be enjoyable for you as well. Just remember to keep in mind that if you are watching them full time you'll need to have somewhere for nap/rest time and that you'll be feeding them some sort of meals/snacks. (The best way to keep costs down in terms of foods is to shop at a place like CostCo or Sams Club so you can buy in bulk and save).

You could try posting on a website like craigslist or looking to friends and family. Also check out your local church/temple etc. or post flyers in places where there are lots of kids (YMCA, grocery stores, etc.)

Hope this is helpful!

I started out 4 years ago with the same question and tried lots of things - telemarketing, typing, data entry, etc. Some were total scams.

I just wanted to be able to stay at home with my kids, and earn some money, too. eBay worked for me. You can get started with no financial investment, see how it goes, and grow the business as you are comfortable with it. It is easy, fun, profitable, and you can work around your family's schedule.

You may find this guide helpful in getting started on eBay. I wrote it to help others (especially Stay At Home Moms) get started on ebay. I am a huge supporter of other stay at home moms - we have such an important job. This booklet is written from my own experience from selling for 4 years. I've sold about 12,000 items. I've learned alot along the way by trial and error and hope to save others some time and mistakes! I didn't have anyone helping me, so I hope I can help other moms do this, too.

I haven't made a million dollars, and don't promise that you will. But, I have made several thousand dollars doing this and been able to work at home. Plus, it is fun!

Feel free to contact me with any questions, I am glad to help!

(My first month, I made about $400 selling items from around the house. Now, I make an average of $3,500 a month.)

Best of luck to you! Blessings-

I work from home. I just got started, but my mom and dad do it and make about $150,000/year, so I knew it was legit and possible. It does require $50/month, but its a tax write off, and covers your benefits, websites, training, etc. Also, your telephone, internet, computer, office supplies, gas, etc., all become a tax write off, so it saves you a TON of money, even if you never even work. This year, thanks to all the tax write offs, I'm getting thousands back for my tax return, and I've barely started working. Yay! I personally LOVE it, because I get to help people, but still be here for my 2 year old daughter. Family comes first, but I also like the fact that I am building a strong financial legacy and security. Email me at starsalso@yahoo.com or instant message me at mrs.mama21 for more info. I am always glad to help another mom who wants to do what is best for her family! We all deserve the chance to be financially secure without sacrificing time with our children.

Another option: doing daycare out of your home. That way, you get to make money, but still be there with your child, and she will have friends to play with. You can look into what your state requires in order to have an at home daycare.

I was running two Head Start Programs four years ago. I had my daughter and I put her in an in-home day care. I told my husband that I would like to stay at home with her and he told me if I could figure out away than I could do it. Well I have a degree in Family Studies and worked with children for several years. I new that I wanted to continue to use my degree. I decided that I wold run and in home child care center. I became certified to care for six children and got on my state's food program to get reimbursed for meals. Just remember you don't need a degree to open and in home you just need the love for children and to pass the inspections. At this time I'm looking for a building to expand to a license center. Good Luck

hey, i work from home my son is 18months, i look after two children they are twin boy and girl 20months, it's informal so it's good, you can advertise on parent sites and in the papers etc, also i make cards and books and paintings and sell them on TradeMe (NZ) which brings in about a hundred a week and the children i look after bring in one fifty a week so thats two fifty, and its all tax free lol, also i used to teach dance at home about 5 girls per lesson, five lessons a week which brought in a fair bit too, just find out your interests and what you are good at and like doing, then find out where the customer need is and cater to it! good luck!
