It is indeed!!! I had a depression a few years ago and the first thing my doctor said was : "Madam, don't forget that depression is a disease"; it helped me to tell the others that I was really ill, because some people think that it is not a disease and think that you do it on purpose!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you have a depression, I really wish you much courage, but there an end at it, keep hoping!!

It most definitely is a disease however it is curable with pills! Depression has a terrible effect on your body just as HIV/AIDS would! Before you get worried about depression and start blowing it out of proportion you should figure out why you are depressed! It may be something you can get rid of on your own without the help of pills!!! DO NOT LET DEPRESSION GET THE BEST OF YOU!!!

No, I don't think so. All people get depressed under certain external or internal conditions. Recovery comes when these conditions change.
