An excellent and very prosperous career for a former Officer to get into is as an investigator for insurance companies. Insurance companies hire both fraud investigators and accident reconstruction investigators. Both can make a six figure salary with a Police background.

It all depends on your degree and education. If you don't have a degree get one. You will not be happy with doing minimum wage security work... When I retired I went into Banking. Started out as a clerk in the back office. Because I was a ex-cop my bosses liked and respected me. I worked harder then most of there other employees and was promoted through the ranks very fast. Don't under-estimated your value...I later went to a Mgmt and Consulting Firm. Get your feet wet at a major bank and the sky is the limit if you really want it.

One of my collegues opened his own PI biz, my Capt. retired from our local Police Dept to become Chief at the Parks Department, I work security at a hotel & my husband does security at an auto dealership.....

College professor, academy trainer, bail bonds, repo work, PI, school resource officer, private sector corrections, private sector security, and loss prevention management.
