The first one is gorgeous.
When my son got married, he refused to wear a tie. He chose for himself & his groomsmen a slightly longer jacket with Mandrin (stand-up) collar with a Mandrin collar shirt.
This is similar but not quite; his buttoned. But I think this style would go with that dress

It's a medieval look not Victorian or french- just so you know because if you want the guy to match it would be medieval.
You could do several things-
1. Just you do the medieval- have him do a suit.
2. Do a Knight type theme and rent him a King Author type costume.
3. Do the Medieval tight look- rent costume
If your going to have bridesmaids you might want to consider what they will be wearing as well. I think you should go for it and do a King Author fairy tale wedding. I have seen it done and it's amazing and no one will forget it. All your bridesmaids can rent costumes instead of buying dresses.

These may be a bit far out for what you are looking for, but it's a very interesting site, and well worth a look if this is the style of dress you are going for, very gothic, and some of the men's clothes may look better suited to that style of dress.
Have a look at the dresses as well, they have some similar style to the ones you like.

I think you can work this into your wedding without making the men look costumey. See if you can have the dress made in another fabric. (a local seamstress can be hired) Crushed velvet tends to make garments look themey. You could translate either of these garments in to beautifully pieces that compliment men's attire (a suit, tux, basically anything) more easily. Congrats and wedding and way to go on having your own unique vision.

personally, I'd choose a normal tuxedo style for the guys. I might add something to that that's unique, like the boutineere. The style of the dress looks nice, but I would agree, I dont think I'd go with a puffy shirt of something else indicative of that era.

Well, what about a style of groom's wear that matches the dress? You've picked a Juliet dress, so what about a Romeo suit? They're listed on the same website as this dress.

OMG!!! i love that site!! unfortunately all their dresses are waaaayyy out of my price range. :'( i would suggest having your fiance wear either a traditional tux/suit thingy, or try to get him to wear something medievally as well. if you're going to go with something medievally (no that does NOT mean he has to wear tights.....loose pants were also worn, so were kilts) check out some of these sites:

there may be otehrs, but i can't remeber the exact links now...they all have really nice stuff depending on what exactly you're looking for. also, renstore.com has some great accessories and caketops and stuff like that, museum replicas has some really nice jewelry and shoes and swords too. good luck!! hope you find what you're looking for!

Seems to me that a traditional suit would look good with either dress...unless you're looking for period pieces to match the dress, which might look a little too feminine for a man to wear nowadays.

Looks like youve gone for a very vintage and "french" design.... look into the history of the french revolution... it think your dress matches very well to that time era, look at what the men wore for big occasions at this time!! i think you will get some good ideas there!

Theme your wedding around this era in history. A friend of mine did and it looked fantastic. Its amazing the things that you could do with your bridal party, favours, hall, table decs etc. Have fun and go with it.
