Surely we could build tunnels and bridges to connect the peninsulas.

It seems like we could have a system similar to the BART or the underground highways in Europe.

So why doesn't anyone ever propose that? I'm sick of the ferry -- it's too slow for its cost.

I live on the peninsula and would love to be able to leave my car behind and be downtown seattle in like 15 minutes via some kind of rapid transit.

If you lived on the peninsula and had to drive around the Sound to go to Seattle you might not feel the same way.
It's all about the $ I'm sure.....

then how would you get to Whidbey Island and others?
I lived there for a while. don't remember how many miles it was.
Maybe too long for a bridge. Seattle is the Gateway to Alaska,
purhaps bridges would cause disasters with ships, freighters etc.
