The Quran allows a maximum of four wives at the same time, not over a lifetime. That is, you may have four wives at the same time but if you divorce and re-marry 13 women (or whatever) in your life-time, that is permissible.
However if you read the same chapter carefully, it clearly says that a man is incapable of doing justive between more than one and hence only one is recommended (but four are allowed simultaneously)
Cheers.

Omar can you explain this?
In Exodus 21:10, a man can marry an infinite amount of women without any limits to how many he can marry.
In 2 Samuel 5:13; 1 Chronicles 3:1-9, 14:3, King David had six wives and numerous concubines.
In 1 Kings 11:3, King Solomon had 700 wives and 300 concubines.
In 2 Chronicles 11:21, King Solomon's son Rehoboam had 18 wives and 60 concubines.
In Deuteronomy 21:15 "If a man has two wives, and he loves one but not the other, and both bear him sons...."
and this?
Matthew 25
The Parable of the Ten Virgins
1. "At that time the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom.
2. Five of them were foolish and five were wise.
3. The foolish ones took their lamps but did not take any oil with them.
4. The wise, however, took oil in jars along with their lamps.
5. The bridegroom was a long time in coming, and they all became drowsy and fell asleep.
6. "At midnight the cry rang out: 'Here's the bridegroom! Come out to meet him!'
7. "Then all the virgins woke up and trimmed their lamps.
8. The foolish ones said to the wise, 'Give us some of your oil; our lamps are going out.'
9. " 'No,' they replied, 'there may not be enough for both us and you. Instead, go to those who sell oil and buy some for yourselves.'
10. "But while they were on their way to buy the oil, the bridegroom arrived. The virgins who were ready went in with him to the wedding banquet. And the door was shut.
11. "Later the others also came. 'Sir! Sir!' they said. 'Open the door for us!'
12. "But he replied, 'I tell you the truth, I don't know you.'
13. "Therefore keep watch, because you do not know the day or the hour.

That's a good question.
As a muslim you can have as many wives as you want in a lifetime, but only 4 maximum at a single time.
So, assuming you aspire to have 80 wives in 10 years, what you must do is perform a divorce once every 1.5 months.
Think of any reason you want and fataq the wife (say, I divorce you 3 times). If you want your son's wife, just tell him allah says to give her to you just like muhammad did to his own adopted son's wife. If you want your mother, tell your father you met allah in your toilet while praying and allah says to let you have her. You will return her to him after a few rounds by divorcing her. Then he can have her back.
That way, you get to re-cycle your harem and have sex with any woman you want. Great being in islam right? Get to have sex round the clock and even 72 sexy virgins after killing innocent infidels.
No adultery and no pornography!!! Wow!

Four was not the limit, You can have as many wives as you can afford.
Mohamed wives were not all around at the same time. Some had died before he married another.

He didn't marry them at the same time. We are the only religion that promotes the marriage of one wife, but since demographics are such that females outnumber males, men are allowed to marry more than one...

That's why he's godman of a cult. One rule for everyone and freedom for him to do to have as many he pleases. He got a revelation to that effect from "allah", something these compulsive cult liars will not tell you.
If they do admit it, they will try to raise the examples of kings from the Bible like David, Solomon, etc (who were known as sinners to Christians) to whitewash the reputation of their "holy" prophet.
[al-Ahzab 33:50]
O Prophet! surely We have made lawful to you your wives
whom you have given their dowries, and those whom your
right hand possesses out of those whom Allah has given
to you as prisoners of war, and the daughters of your
paternal uncles and the daughters of your paternal aunts,
and the daughters of your maternal uncles and the
daughters of your maternal aunts who fled with you; and
a believing woman if she gave herself to the Prophet,
if the Prophet desired to marry her --
SPECIALLY FOR YOU, NOT FOR THE (REST OF) believers;
We know what We have ordained for them concerning
their wives and those whom their right hands possess in
order that no blame may attach to you; and Allah is
Forgiving, Merciful.
Sure! Forgiving and merciful to Mohammad to have as many wives as he pleases.
Think Joseph Smith, David Koresh, Warren Jeff. How were these any different ?

well - I am so glad that as long as a man can afford it , he can keep as many wives as he wants ! - of course then there are people like myself , who think that this is theeeee most disgusting situation any woman could go through! his member poking away in another woman and another and another ! how disgusting!
how prostitution like - how dirty and degrading ! that reminds me of nothing else then pimping and inadequate sexual behavior! but hey what do I know!
