Mono (Mononucleosis) is a virus, usually found in saliva.Sad to say dude, it can be passed on by kissing. But not as easily as the common cold. Coughing can too...but rarely. You can develop mono symptoms if your body's immune system is down (as in after a cold or any other illness or immuno compromised state). No cure yet but it heals on it's own in a couple of days. If you have it, rest and a lot of fluids will help.

Mono is caused by a virus and is quite common. Its mainly transferred by the saliva, so it is called the kissing disease. But, just like any other virus it can spread very easily by having close contact with other people or a person that is carrying the virus. In fact most people that have had it in the past continue to spread it around, from time to time, throughout their lives.

Hope that helps.

Mono is spread by saliva, on toilet seats, faucet handles, etc. You do not have to just kiss someone to get it. You can drink off of someone's glass or cup that is a carrier and you can get it. The person that is the carrier doesn't have to have any active symptoms.
It is not airborne.

Mono (infectious mononucleosis) is characterized by fever, sore throat, swollen lymph glands, enlarged spleen and liver and abnormal lymphocytes lab. It is spread through droplets from someone coughing, sneezing or just breathing though it is not highly or predictably contagious. Once you have had "mono" you should be permanently immune to it, although you can still carry it and spread it to others.
