use a product of technology and science, like a pistol, to protect yourself, or clutch the holy bible and invoke your faith.

I'll promise you this much... if pulling the trigger could save your life, and you choose to stand there and pray, you will die.

THIS is the REAL real dividing line between what people CLAIM they believe, and what they really believe. Despite what many think, religious faith in our society is a luxury, and one that most people abandon at the moment of truth.

When all else fails, people will cry to god, but by that time they are in a pure survival instinct mode, and will say anything. When given the possibility of being rescued by the hands of technology, people inevitably ask to be saved by technology.

If you ever get to witness the hypocrisy of "faith" you will understand what I mean.

ninja (which you are clearly NOT),

So, using your line of logic, those christians who get sent off to war are hypocrites if they use anything but the Bible to defeat their enemy?

Use of a weapon by someone with the 'luxury' of religious faith would be wrong, simply due to their faith?

Let's take this a bit farther...by using your thinking, christians who are fatally injured that are saved by life saving technology must be a hypocrite simply because they were not saved by their faith alone?

Your argument is full of holes...which leads me to believe that you are either incredibly young or naieve...most likely both.

This is a very thinly veiled anti-christian rant.

First of all, you have no clue as to what you are talking about.
Second, for a Christian to physically defend one's self does not go against the Bible. But to know this you would actually have to read the Bible, which you obviously haven't. From looking at what you post, you are just a little child that likes to start trouble and thinks it is cool to not believe in God and slam Christ Jesus and then also attempt to insult Christians. You need to grow up and get a life. May God have mercy upon you the day you go before Him.
And yes, I would defend myself and disarm the criminal with what ever means that are necessary, including deadly force if need be.

Well, this "solution" was tried many years ago - think WWII, at least as well as before and slightly after. Though it DID help some, it also created some serious problems for the military. What ended up happening is you had people who were not accustomed to taking orders and who had serious problems with authority, both things that require respect within the military structure. So on top of that, it degraded the military's appearance within the community-at-large so that people had not love or respect for military service members. (My grandpa was sent away from a girl's house once when he showed up in uniform - he had volunteered to enlist - and the girl's dad told him he would be met by a shotgun if he ever came to the door in "that uniform" again!) Unfortunately finding "bodies" within the penal system to serve our country is not the answer we're searching for UNLESS they join before they are incarcerated in which case they might have a chance to improve themselves and their lives. For any kind of improvement though, whether in jail or on the streets, a person really has to WANT it or nothing will change.

Where is it written that Christians reject technology or all science? Why is it because we reject certain scientific theories, and they are just that theories, that you assume we reject all science? Did you not remember the girl from Columbine the died rather than deny Jesus? So don't tell me all Christian drop their faith in God and Jesus when they are in a fight or flight situation. Its just another lie and sweeping generalization that people like you use to discredit all by the actions of one.

Life is precious.
In my mind, I would love to be able to do this fabulous round-house kick followed by an elbow to the ribs and a heel smashed into the instep, then run like the dickens, because of all the adrenaline running through my veins, but alas, this scenario is but a romantic fantasy for this weak body.

I've heard stories, though, about guardian angels that would blow your mind.

Justice, Mercy, compassion, and faith. If we live by such virtues to bring peace and good will I would have to say he better hope I don't have a baseball bat in my hand! Were do we draw the line?

Hmmm You have obviously never read the testimonies of the non resistant Amish missionaries around the world. They are not always the ones who die; sometimes those who rely on technology, who fight back, are the ones that lose their lives.

if that knife isat my throat for my faith then i merely pray, and witness to the guy, if he's trying to rob me, or something not becauuse of my faith, i defend myself.. Luk 22:36-38 Then said he (Jesus) unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one. (37) For I say unto you, that this that is written must yet be accomplished in me, And he was reckoned among the transgressors: for the things concerning me have an end. (38) And they said, Lord, behold, here are two swords. And he said unto them, It is enough.

Read the whole Bible first and you'll understand that it supports the idea of self defense. Don't just take one or two scriptures out of their context.
