I have had several people tell me that by looking at my belly or my complexion, that they can tell what gender my baby is. One said she learned the trick from her mother when she was young and I have heard about the carrying high or low thing. I've studied my pregnant belly and I think it just looks like every other pregnant belly. Please only answer if you know what complexion or any other outside things have to do with this.

I didnt ask whether you thought it was a wives tale or a crock of lies, I asked a simple question. And yes, I know its not scientific. I already know its a boy, I just wondered how people know.

I am 7 weeks pregnant myself and in one journal I was reading I actually came across a paragraph that said 'if by arouns week 32, your tummy is shaped like a basketball then your expecting a boy and if shaped like a watermelon (more towards the sides) then its a girl.
As for complexion, I have come across people who can look at you and tell you're pregnant. This is usually happens in the first trimester when you're not really showing but based on the glow and texture of your skin, some people can tell your pregnant. Its for the first time I hear someone relating complexion to baby sex.
I have friend whose granny told her she was expecting a boy but the gynae gave a different story and she ultimately gave birth to a boy. Thanks to a very successful baby shower, her boy ended up having to be in pink for the first few months of his life.

A lot of this is old wives tails, but there is one way to check that is 99% accurate and that is take a gold band ring ( It must be only a gold band, it cannot have any diamonds in it) put it on a thin string that is about 12" long, hold the very end of the string with your finger tips and hold it over your belly, if it goes in a circle it is a girl and if it is a boy it will move back and forth. This actually works. I saw this study on a Science show and it works.

Pregnancy Myths - The shape and fullness of your face during pregnancy can indicate your baby's sex.
Truth: Every woman gains weight differently during pregnancy, and every woman experiences different skin changes. If people tell you that because your face is round and rosy you're having a girl, they might be right - but it's just as likely that they're wrong!
Pregnancy Myths - The Gender Bender
If a pregnant woman's face breaks out, she is carrying a girl who will steal all of her mother's beauty. Says Dr. Stone: "The thing about it is that it's so chauvinistic — why is it that a girl's going to steal her mother's beauty? — anyway, it's not true, it's ridiculous.
Pregnancy Myths - The Poor Complexion Connection
A woman who carries wide, is having a girl. A woman who carried forward, is having a boy. "It's a common myth, but it's not true," says Dr. Eddleman.

That is exaclty what it is a trick. WAY WAY back when before they had technoilgy they would use things like high or low barring and stuff like that to figure out what the baby would be. They would figure if three people were pregnant and all were carrying low and had boys thats what it ment and so on, so the tales began and now they are simply ole wives tales. LIKE FOR REAL

It is said that if a woman is pregnant with a girl then the baby takes away from the mom's beauty and her nose spreads and she get less pretty during pregnancy. I think its kind of mean to say that but thats what I've heard.
Congrats on the boy!

It's an old housewife's tale.
It goes that if you are having a baby boy, your belly is round, whereas if you are having a baby girl, your belly is oval.
It also says that if you have clear skin and a relaxed looking face (opposed to how you looked before pregnancy), then it's a baby girl. Whereas if your skin is unclear and your face is tired, it's a baby boy.
Congratulations for your baby boy!

the way i have heard and experienced it is that boys tend to lay side to side, which widens your hips and make it seem as though the weight is piling on around your belly, thighs and bottom. whereas girls girls tend to lay straight up to down, giving you all belly and the look of carrying "high". i have 3 children, 1 boy and 2 girls, and id have to say my experience having a boy was exactly like described but i could not tell with my girls as they were so small, 5lb and 3lb 4oz. hope this helps :) congratulations and good luck with your baby boy :))

They can't- they are just guessing, and they do have a 50/50 shot sooo...I believe some people are more intuitive than others yes, but I think that is an inner FEELING, not something they deduce by your face or belly.

well actually my mum is very good at guessing the way she does it is that if your expecting a girl then you put more weight on around your bum and thighs as well as the belly but if your having a boy then you seem to have a high large belly but not put much weight on around the other areas. what shape do you think you have aquired through your pregnancy?

They are old wive's tales...everyone told me that the way I was carrying I was going to have a boy...I never heard of boys having severe pms and bleeing once a month. I always thought boys had penises rather than vaginias.
