I am 21 years old and am thinking about getting a tattoo, but I need to know how much it hurts, and where is a good spot on the body so I dont have much pain?

Please help thanks.

I got my tat done on the side of my neck yesterday...it was quite painful..I mentioned to the artist 'the neck is a real B1ch to get tatted'....and it is..it's obviously really sensitive,i suggest you think very hard on what YOU want and where...if you're worried about pain..don't get it done near bones, the neck, top of the foot,face,mouth...i'd have to say the arm is the least painful.

Getting a tattoo always involves a certain amount of discomfort.
It's unavoidable. That's just the way it is. There are areas that are typically more sensitive to pain than others. Areas close to bone
such as elbows, or on the spine. Other areas of sensitivity are along the ribs, on the belly, and knee caps. The under side of the arms and the armpits are too.

pain is different for everybody but from personal experience tops of the feet are brutal (i have both of my foot tops tattooed) and the spine is pretty awful too (working on getting my whole back tattooed) i wouldn't worry too much about the pain tho, it's really not that bad. it hurts but it's totally bearable. the MOST important thing to do is to research the tattoo artist that you are thinking about going to. look at their portfolio and make sure that they are talented and above all make sure that the tattoos they do impress you. if you need help finding a tattoo artist in your area feel free to contact me.

But a more general one, seriously, is that the pain is temporary. The art is forever. Choose a tattoo and location based on what you want, not on how much it might or might not hurt. 10, 20 years from now you'll see the art in the mirror, but any pain will (most likely) be just a faded memory.

It's going to hurt regardless of where you get the tattoo. Areas over bone tend to be more sensitive than fleshy areas....but pain is subjective and each person will tell you something different because it varies and depends on the person's pain tolerance and so forth.

every one is different, pain is very subjective. what hurts one person may not hurt another. I have 6 and they all hurt a little. the pain is part of it.no pain on gain. sorry but it's true if it didnt hurt everyone would have one.

Closer to the bone hurts more. Top of foot is killer, lower back not quite as bad.
