Hey Tracy

Ill give you the old one. It still works well.

Aromatherapy: Rosemary can help stimulate liver function.

Diet: Follow a diet low in protein and high in fresh vegetables to minimize stress on the liver. Also eat small meals throughout the day, and avoid foods such as refined sugars, alcohol, and caffeine, which cause stress on the liver, and be sure to drink plenty of filtered water. Drinking fresh lemon juice water every morning and evening followed by vegetable juice is also recommended to help liver function. Easily digested grains, such as millet, buckwheat, and quinoa, are also good food choices.

Enemas: Three warm enemas administered daily can help boost liver function.

Herbs: The liver-cell regenerative properties of herbs such as milk thistle and licorice can be helpful. Take 1/2 teaspoon of this mixture three times a day. Tumeric combined with milk thistle has also been shown to help alleviate the symptoms of hepatitis B.

Hydrotherapy: Hydrotherapy is the application of water, ice, steam and hot and cold temperatures to maintain and restore health. Treatments include full body immersion, steam baths, saunas, sitz baths, colonic irrigation and the application of hot and/or cold compresses. Hydrotherapy is effective for treating a wide range of conditions and can easily be used in the home as part of a self-care program. Many Naturopathic Physicians, Physical Therapists and Day Spas use Hydrotherapy as part of treatment. I suggest several at-home hydrotherapy treatments.

Juice Therapy: The following juice combinations can be helpful: beet, carrot, and wheat grass juice; or garlic, burdock, flax, and black currants.

Nutritional Supplementation: Supplement with vitamin C, beta carotene, liver glandulars, milk thistle extract, vitamin B complex, adrenal glandulars, lipotropic factors, pantothenic acid, free-form amino acids, betaine hydrochloric acid (HCL), multi-enzymes, and evening primrose oil.

Alternative Professional Care
If your symptoms persist despite the above measures, seek the help of a qualified health professional. The following professional care therapies have all been shown to be useful for treating hepatitis: Ayurveda, Acupuncture, Detoxification Therapy, Magnetic Field Therapy, Naturopathic Medicine, and Oxygen Therapy.

Cause
The most common cause of hepatitis is a virus that can occur in five potential forms: A, B, C, D, or E. Other causes include excessive alcohol consumption, drug abuse (including pharmaceutical drugs, such as acetaminophen), overexposure to chemicals, and, sometimes, as a reaction to properly prescribed medications.

In recent years, hepatitis C has been on the increase. It is most frequently caused as a result of blood transfusions. Typically, people with hepatitis C are identified either because they have abnormal liver tests or because of a hepatitis C antibody test. A positive test does not necessarily mean serious liver disease, however. People with hepatitis C may have no liver disease, a mild form of chronic hepatitis, or a more serious form of hepatitis that may progress over a number of years to cirrhosis. The usual indications are a positive antibody test for the hepatitis C virus, abnormal liver tests for more than six to twelve months, and a liver biopsy that shows chronic active hepatitis. Approximately 20% of patients chronically infected with the hepatitis C virus will go on to develop cirrhosis.

Note: Infectious hepatitis can be easily spread two weeks before and one week after jaundice appears. The feces of people with hepatitis contain the virus. Therefore, very strict toilet hygiene and hand and cloth washing should be observed during this time.

Best of health to you

That fellow is wrong and there is a new treatment for Hep C,,as my husband has just started treatment,,it's an Interferon drug with a combination RIV,,,,treatment the drug is called Pegasus, in combination with a daily pill that is taken with a weekly injection,,for a period of a year or 6 month depending on the stage of the disease....and the odds of removing the virus are good depending on the stage of the disease..so my friend look this up on the computer and see what is says,,and might be able to help you,,as I hope it will help my husband be rid of this disease,,the proper spelling for the drug is PEGASYS..RBV.tm...peginterferon alfa-2a+ribavirin..is the correct spelling of this treatment,,so don't listen to the uneducated ,as I myself have become very educated in this matter and am praying for a positive outcome for the future of my husband...If you are canadian look up DR> GHENT...on the web,,his nurse Vera Simon has written many journals on this matter and are from London, Ontario,,One of the best in the world..Good Luck and check it out,,there is hope for all of us..

FIRST of ALL, how disrespectful and unknowledgable and FALSE every answer above me is! (exept for lisadivi's,although that is not the new treatment)

No cure? No treatment? FALSE!

A cure using NATURAL therapies? FALSE!

Now, if your talking antiviral chemotherapy, the newest treatment available is still in phase 4 trials. It is called "Infergon". It is showing very promising results for those that previously failed interferon. Infergon is used along with antiviral meds such as ribavirin. Infergon is like interferon, but is more easily tolerated with less side effects.

THERE ARE HIGH CURE RATES already with interferons and ribavirin. Between 18%-24% for genotypes 1a and 1b and up to 88% with all other genotypes combined.

If a person remains virus free for after a year (or sustained) you are cured, UNLESS your lifestyle puts you at risk for re-infection.

Now, i would like to tell the person who claims a cure with natural remedies. WHERE IS YOUR PROOF? ALT and AST levels are NOT PROOF! I want to see VIRON LEVELS.
HCV is not a game! HCV is NOT just a liver disease!!!!! HCV only needs the liver as it's host to replicate and change it's genetic makeup...each time a batch of virons are released into the bloodstream (which takes the virons all throughout the body!) another batch of genetically changed virons is released. This causes overloads in organs and tissues-even the brain! The virus is MUCH smarter than anything-including milk thistle, however, milk thistle will lower your alt and ast levels which are responsable for cancer cell growth. (milk thislte does not prevent liver cancer, just lessens the chance).

HCV affects other organs and tissues, THUS, causing "bi-directional" diseases which can be exaborated by "natural" cure alls.....if cure alls actually CURED a person, you wouldnt have to maintain the madness for the rest of your life and no one would be walking around SICK! Your post really disgusts me as well as many others who have been gullable enough to waste a lot of money on something that never did a thing, or just added to the problem!

PEOPLE, if it sounds too good to be true, it's TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE! Life is NOT that easy!

Hep C is the number one cause of liver failure leading to liver transplant in the United States. There is no cure for Hep C. Not all people that are infected with Hep C manifest the disease. The most common medical treatment that I am aware of is interferon.

Not sure what everyone else in this thread is smoking - particularly the enema-promoter. In any case: current regimens being tried are ribavirin (general anti-RNA-viral) and interferon-alpha. Horrible side effect profile but is effective in some people (in terms of slowing/preventing further damage - definitely not a cure).
