I've called individual theists stupid, ignorant, etc.....
I've never classified them as a group.
I'm biased, but I fiond the fundamentalist position inherently arrogant. They assume they best know how to educate and raise my children. They assume that their belief system is right for everyone else. And they assume that they...and they alone (about what? %2 of the world population?) are saved.
One of the primary reasons I see creationists object to evolution is the theological belief that we are better then animals. I think that's arrogant.
I'm just a primate with a modem and a beer.....
They are too good to be primates.

I have no idea why anyone is judged to be anything. I'm sorry people are misunderstanding you, but perhaps you are misunderstanding others as well. I do not know your religion, nor does it matter to me. I don't know what you've said to others in the past, but perhaps you're more blunt than others care to hear. Perhaps changing your phrasing and tone might help to keep the rifts from rising. Or you may just be pressing the "button" just a little too often.
