My wife is bi-polar. Here are ALL her meds. She is on 600 mg lithium 2x daily, luvox 200mg at night, klonopin 1 mg at night, depakote 500 mg 2x daily for myoclonus(has CP), and efffexor xr 150 mg in morning. Her current problems are she is up all night unitl 4-5 am and then sleeps all morning and part of afternoon. She eats once a day..usually cereal. Drinks up to 18 juices a day. Says she loves me and wantsme, but has lesbian cybersex at night even after we have sex, and a lesbian lover beyond that. She has psychotic detachements of staring, mumbling and talking to her dead mother that lasts for 10 -20 minutes. After which she has no memory of it. She has had her labs and her lithium is 0.7 and depakote is also at ok levels. Dr says her meds are working, and I say they are not because of her symptoms. The dr says that my wife is doing this on purpose. I think the dr is all wrong and she needs something. We live in Hawaii and there are not any dr taking new patiants.

I saw that no one had replied and thought I would. I have bipolarII. I have struggled with this for ten years, and can tell you this disorder seems to at times vary like the wind. Three things I wanted to say. First of all, you live with her, if you think there is more to her illness than get a second, third fourth etc opinion, then look at the situation again. The second thing is although the meds help with a variety of issues Bipolar causes, there is no magic pill for ones coping mechanisms, and for self control. Again, the pills help. BUT you have got to re-learn how to handle your life. Wether you do that wtih counceling, or are in a position to do your own *personal inventory* and then make changes, if you dont do that, it may be that you just dont get better. The third thing is that if you expect her to be monogomous, and she knows it, and goes out on you anyways, well you ought to think about that long and hard. She most likely has control over her impulses. And if she does not, then she nees to learn how to handle them(as I said above) and YOU need to decide what you can take, but most importantly take care of yourself. Its a disorder that can ravage everyone involved. Wish I could write more, I feel for you! Feel free to email me

I'm going to speak to you from experience here in all honesty. I am Bipolar (Manic Depressive) & I live in Tennessee. I don't know that I get much better help since I sought help at the age of 19 & was told nothing was wrong with me. It was another 8 years before I tried to seek help again & it was thru a regular doctor who kept treating me for depression & of course the meds did not work. I went thru several different antidepressants over a 4 year period & finally switched doctors only to find she tried to treat me the same way. I finally had a mental breakdown & ended up in the mental hospital for 5 days & they got my meds straightened out for me. During all this, I have a husband that I have been with for almost 15 years...we are both 32, so you see we've been together most of our lives. I not only had lesbian cybersex, I had a couple of female partners & he does know about it. However, I don't feel it was me. Now, that I'm getting straightened out, I feel kind of outside myself as though it wasn't me at all doing those things. I didn't want to hurt my husband & I love him very dearly. I think maybe they may have your wife overmedicated or something isn't right to stablize her. I can't believe the dr is saying she is doing things on purpose. I don't believe it. She is very lucky to have you stand by her side thru all of this 'cause she's not able to take care of herself as she should be taken care of. Please don't give up on her. It sounds like she needs a different doctor or maybe you should persist that whatever meds she can do without be taken away or reduced in the amount. Her habits sound a lot like mine & I say she needs something, too. What about activities outside the home? Is she getting out at all? Don't let her sink into the house with no outside contact. Are there any support groups in your area to go to for you or her or both? I know it's very limited where I live. I live in a small town. I guess I really haven't been much help but I hope I have a little~

Is she in a 12 step program ? DRA would be helpful where she could relate better to others with her conditon. Ask at your local mental health clinic when meetings are . I am familiar with a few of those medications and that sounds like too much. DRA stands for Dual Recovery Annoynomous. It is a self help program that doesn't make fun of people on medicine. It has given me my life back . I am a recovering alcoholic/ addict , paranoid schytizophrenic that has found hope and freedom . I haven't had to take medicine for over 5 years . Even is she is not an alcoholic or addict , she may find some relief at DRA .

properly, the excellent subject to do is unplug the pc earlier you initiate writing a impressive style of issues you're able to experience sorry approximately. area of hypo mania is racing concepts and thinking which you understand the answer to each little thing, lol. via fact that is late maybe you should get a laptop and pen and only initiate writing, in case you're having concepts that are tumbling in each single place write them down, you're able to discover out which you're rather resourceful and characteristic some large concepts. in case you prefer to stay on the pc get a photos software and initiate fooling around with photos etc. only discover one subject to concentration on so as which you do no longer initiate wandering throughout. Oh, lock your doors and don't determine it would be superb to flow out for something. attempt to loosen up and concentration.
