Yes we need to mind our own business. It is what George Washington urged us to do when he left office. To not get involved in foreign entanglements.
Iraq will no doubt be ruled by some Islamic state or other. Islam only allows for Islam does it not?
Look at the other Islamic states and choose which one Iraq will emulate. Since there is so much bitterness there between the two factions it will only be ruled by someone worse than Saddam. Who else can control it? Sorry we created a vacuum for you to fill which can only be filled by a villain. I hope I'm wrong. I do hope you can establish representative government. Then you can show us what it looks like.
The American people were tricked by 9/11 into this war on terror. It is a trick of the international bankers. Some day the American people will suffer the same fate their gullibility has brought to Iraq. Have pity on us. It will be easy for you to have pity on us once our own fighting begins in earnest. We had noble intentions but we are too trusting. Too trusting of our own institutions.
The threat to America is the threat to the world. That much is true.

This has nothing to do with Bush feeling he is El Supremo. He does not feel this way, although I must admit that he handles policy with a mallet and a gun rather than with kid gloves. If the USA leaves Iraq the fighting will escalate into a full scale civil war with both sides attacking one another for supremacy. What happens to the Kurds I do not know, but I am sure that if provoked they will fight. Iran will undoubtedly move into Iraq and try to take over, perhaps by arms? The rest of the Muslim world will merely look on and do nothing to end the bloodshed. They want the USA to remain in Iraq but why should we? Isn't it their fight as well....even more so? Peace will never come to Iraq or to the middle east within the next 50 years or more. These people have been killing each other for centuries and this seems to be their way of life. Should the USA have invaded Iraq in the first place? I really do not know. There are reasons for and against this action. One never knows how events will turn out when they are begun.

If America were to leave Iraq tomorrow, initially the violence may very well get worse.
Shiites and Sunni's would continue to kill each other (as they do now anyway); the Iraqi Govt would continue to have no clue how to stop the violence (when it is not involved in it) and would probably collapse (as it probably would now if America were not propping it up with all the money and muscle it can muster); Iran, Saudi Arabia and the rest of the regions power players would via for influence (as they do now) and international opinion would be divided as to whether a withdrawal was a good idea or not (as it is now about them being there).
The biggest difference would be that for better or worse, there would be no Americans killing Iraqi's and no Iraqi's killing Americans. For the first time since America invaded in 2003, Iraqi's would truly have a hand in deciding their own fate. Yes they may fight, yes they may kill, but for the first time in nearly 4 years only they would have something to lose by doing it.

With a husband over there I'd love nothing more than him to come home but its not whats best for our country or our world. IF the U.S. pulled out with Iraq the way it is now. Iran and Syria would split it in half and terrorists and fantical islamist would take that region over in a way we can't even fathom. We have to stay the course until we can get them to defend themselves.
I'm really tired of people bad mouthing President Bush. his name is isn't George, George W, W, or Bush. He is the president of this country like it or not and deserves respect for the position he holds.
President Bush is doing what he feels best for this country and thats all any president can ever do. I just pray that he has made the right choice but we won't know that for about 30 or 40 years when new history books are written. Hell there are still people fighting over involvement in every war since WWII. This won't be any different

OK, historical lesson time people- so LISTEN UP, THE OLD SARGE IS TALKING.
This is how its gonna go down, just like in Viet Nam back in '74
We pull out, the country stays on its own for anywhere from a few months to maybe 3 years, then it collapses causeing a power vacuum.
Whoever is local, the strongest, the most power, and with the most people will then take over the country at gunpoint
Both Viet Nam and Iraq are good examples of what NOT to do.
Bosina, Coratia, Kosovo- shows us how to do it correctly
Unfortunatly, it took 25 years for us to get out.
Iraq is going to be with us for a long, long, time

Both places are gonna suffer. Iraq the worst because there were 30,000 casualties in Iraq and mot of them are civilians. And a generation is on the verge of losing many people. Sons, Daughters, Mothers, Fathers, Husbands, Wives etc are dying for a lost cause. If the tables were turned I would be horrified.

I think It is not time to say Americans live or leave. Americans value was went down nearly zero after Vietnum's war. A lot of Vietnumese who supported to Americans' troops were killed. Nobody wanted to believe "Americans' promise" again.
In this time, I think Bush want to pull it up.
Nobody asked them to invent into Iraq. UN and a lot of nations are objected to decleared war on Iraq. But they are insisted.
Now Saddam and his relations were killed. Iraq is destroy by bombs and kill. All in Iraq are coming as bloody hell.
It is really Americans' responsibility. It is really truth.
Americans must go till to the end. Shouldn't be give-up again.
You are very lucky because I am so free in this time.

well, all I know is that I want our troops home, my husband being one of them, neither myself or my husband agrees with the context of this war, or invasion, however you look at it.
i can never imagine what it might be like to live there...it is heartbreaking to imagine what sort of fears and all other sort of emotions any one would have while their country is being torn apart by war and the new terrorist insurgents whom have been stirred up from the bowels of humanity.
i would think that the people of Iraq would want to rebuild their own country. as far as "what is actually did the Americans want with Iraq now?" , i assume you are asking what actually do the Americans want with Iraq now...like why don't we leave? well, only an elite few in the white house knows why we are still there. we all know though that we invaded on false pre-tenses don't we.

I am sure that there are both people that want us to stay and leave. I think that we should have presented a stronger presence then we have. There has to be a time that we back off and let it sink or swim. It is their country and eventually they have to decide if they want to remain as one or divide up. They have to decide what type or types of government they want. Tito held Yugoslavia togather for many years, after he died it fell apart. Saddam held Iraq togather, we kicked him out. The question must be...At what price stability?
