Did the originators of this belief realize that thousands of righteous people died for centuries before Jesus was even born and that God's delay in bringing forth a son denied them what their religion claims they are due? How does one religion give itself the power to overule other religions?

The obvious answer is...all religions are man-made shams. God endorses no religion, or talks to nobody.

A. There were ways of forgiveness as noted in the Old Testament.=sacrifices. Jesus died for ALL people for ALL TIME. If Jesus death was only acceptable during the time it actually took place we (all people born before the time of Christ and after) would have no hope of salvation. God knows better than that. Jesus death that accomplishes the forgiveness of sins is for the benefit of all people. If you don't want to take my word for it, read the Bible, talk to a minister and see. B. If a religion is wrong and teaches falsely, how can it be right at the same time? There are different views, different denominations (Methodist, Lutheran Baptist, etc.) within Christianity but their bottom line, main belief is the same. Their differences are mostly on secondary issues. I don't think "power" over another religion is the right word. It's more like being correct, trusting/believing in God as displayed in the Bible. Accepting Jesus is the only way of salvation. Only in Christianity does salvation come through the work, (death and resurrection) of someone (Jesus) for the followers of that religion. Jesus did that for us. Now we need to accept what He did and live a life style accordingly.

Righteous people had nothing to worry about. Those that were faithful to God joined him in heaven. Jesus came to the earth for the non-righteous to: 1. Set an example for mankind to follow 2. To help people know that even if they have been sinners, God wants to give them another chance. His suffering and dying on the cross and being raised from the dead was symbolic. He paid a debt he did not owe because we owed a debt that we could not pay. Man alone had reached the point where it was almost impossible to find a righteous man. Just like today.

When you say "overule" I assume you mean "How can a Christian say that Jesus is the only way?" Because without Him, man has no hope because we are not capable of being righteous. Even the BEST person is the world is a sinner. Think about it...would you want to be judged for everything you've ever done? I wouldn't!!!

This is the opportunity

You should read the Bible so that you will fully understand the message of hope and salvation offered by Jesus Christ.
We say in the Apostles Creed "he [Christ] descended to the dead" which means he freed the captives held in purgatory.
Regarding your first question the Church believes that Jesus Christ is the "way, the truth and the life," and no one "comes to the Father except through him."

619
"Christ died for our sins in accordance with the scriptures" (1 Cor 15:3).

620
Our salvation flows from God's initiative of love for us, because "he loved us and sent his Son to be the expiation for our sins" (1 Jn 4:10). "God was in Christ reconciling the world to himself" (2 Cor 5:19).

621
Jesus freely offered himself for our salvation. Beforehand, during the Last Supper, he both symbolized this offering and made it really present: "This is my body which is given for you" (Lk 22:19).

622
The redemption won by Christ consists in this, that he came "to give his life as a ransom for many" (Mt 20:28), that is, he "loved [his own] to the end" (Jn 13:1), so that they might be "ransomed from the futile ways inherited from [their] fathers"(1 Pet 1:18).

623
By his loving obedience to the Father, "unto death, even death on a cross" (Phil 2:8), Jesus fulfills the atoning mission (cf. Isa 53:10) of the suffering Servant, who will "make many righteous; and he shall bear their iniquities" (Isa 53:11; cf. Rom 5:19).

May the Lord's peace be with you!

Who told you that humans were due the reward of everlasting life in heaven??? The Bible does not make that claim. It says that the earth was made for man and man for the earth. Also, Jesus died for all those who had already died as well as those who died after him. The way to heaven was not open but the right to be forgiven of the sins that they inherited from Adam was applied for them. They will be resurrected to life on earth after God's will has been applied here.

God gave everyone a way to Himself through every age. If they accepted the way He prescribed, they would be saved. If they did not, they would be lost. The way to God was always through a blood sacrifice (the innocent for the guilty) because this was what His Son was going to do as the final, pure, once for all sacrifice. It was and is a matter of choice - do it God's way and live, do it your way and die. Their animal sacrifices before Christ looked forward in faith to the time that Christ would come just as ours on this side of Calvary looks back in faith. We do not offer animal sacrifices because Christ fulfilled that requirement, we offer ourselves as living sacrifices, holy and acceptable unto God which is our reasonable service. (We can only be holy and acceptable to God if we come to God, God's way which is Jesus). How does one religion give itself the power to overule other religions - - - we do not "give ourselves the power" the Power belongs to God, the Way belongs to God and the Truth belongs to God and the Life belongs to God. HE is the One who said No other Name under heaven is given among men whereby we must be saved...that name is Jesus Christ. Not because I say so, not because you say it isn't but because GOD HIMSELF said so very clearly from heaven in an audible voice, on the Cross written in blood and in His Word written with ink and on the heart of man written in the conscience.

there'll continually be people who use the be conscious "Christian" in a typical experience. it must be an attitude approximately existence or the way others could be taken care of and many times refers to ultimate a "solid" existence. Their perception has no longer something to do with underlying concepts of God's plan of salvation with the aid of Jesus. they might have heard the plan yet have rejected it as fact. it ought to definitely sound solid to three non-Christians via fact they are able to proceed to have faith interior the thought that their solid works will outweigh their shortcomings interior the top. It satisfies their could have faith basically in themselves somewhat than coming to the information that faith is going previous self and saving faith is got here upon basically in Jesus Christ.

Believers in God our creator believed in the promise of the coming savior, while we believe in the fact that the savior has now come.

They were not denied eternal life with God as long as they believed in his word and that included the savior (redeemer) that had not yet come before they died.

No Christian I know or whose works I have studied believes that all went to hell before the coming of the Promised one, the Messiah, our redeemer Jesus Christ.

Religions are irrelevant. ONE WAY TO HEAVEN. THROUGH JESUS CHRIST WHO IS GOD.

GOD=JESUS
JESUS=GOD

Jesus was the ultimate sacrifice. In the old days, (before Jesus) they gave sacrifices to God. God decided to come in flesh, and behold, JESUS. Jesus is God reincarnated. No one else can do that. Hope that is enough, =]

As Jesus created all things, is it not logical that He represents the only path to the Father? (See Book of Colossians)
