Now, this isn't the rule - but, by and large, it seems to be the rule that atheists are pseudo-intellectuals rather than the exception. Thoughts on why this is?

93% are not atheists - unless you're considering agnosticism "soft atheism". Pseudo-intellectuals are those who say things that are lofty without fully understanding the meaning of their words. For example: those who check out Nietzsche in high school, or those in the Freshman dorms who have books on Buddhism or Jewish mysticism. Atheism seems to be a trend among those who aspire to be lofty thinkers, but simply fail.

Second detail: most theists do not fancy themselves intellectuals. Atheists, on the other hand, often do fancy themselves intellectuals. Whether atheists have more knowledge than theists is questionable, yet it doesn't matter whether theists do or not.

This is "as opposed" to no other form of belief. Attacking theism does not discuss the point, which many of you seem like avoiding. Question, clearly, is a total waste. This wasn't an excuse to attack theism. Please

I was reading before the age of four, have an I.Q. of 140 (tested at age twelve, and again at age thirty-three) and nine years of higher education.
And, I can kill from a distance.
There's nothing "pseudo" about my atheist intellect.

I think it’s not atheists who fancy themselves intellectuals, but rather intellectuals who fancy themselves atheists. I can see where someone who thinks more logically wouldn’t believe in God because there is no way to prove God. The pseudo-intellectual atheists you’re talking of are dumb people who think they’re smart just because they don’t believe in God. I’m not saying all atheists are dumb. Just the dumb ones are dumb.
At least, this is how I see it. And if I have offended anyone, I am truly sorry.

Try YouTube as well. YouTube has an army of atheist trolls, all searching for religious videos that when they find, they will spam with their typical atheist nonsense. Back when I used YouTube, I used to pretend to be a fundamentalist Christian creationist just to troll them. Their gullibility became apparent to me then and I found that out of all the religious groups, atheists were the most easiest to troll.

it takes all types. intellectuals justify their reasoning through science and the hard facts. atheistic/intellectuals have faith in science, and religious/intellectuals possess the knowledge of the "sciences" and also accept the possibility that there is something greater than our own selves out there. we are all given the capacity to accept knowledge, what we do with it is another issue.

I think their gravitation toward this belief system is a matter of personality and temperament, which they mistake for intelligence and reason, because it is against the grain they think they are like brave warriors, facing cold hard truth, and since it is associated with science they think they quickly achieve smartness without education by association. Do I need say they are not sceintists either but simply followers, like Michael Jackson fans of the pseduo-science world.

How so? What do you consider a pseudo-intellectual?
I'd like to answer but I don't think I should until I know exactly what you mean.

Probably not the 93% of the National Academy of Sciences. They probably think they are real intellectuals.
---
Of course I count "soft atheism". It's another word for "politically correct atheism". In other words, they know darn well that God doesn't exist (which, by the way, he doesn't). They are just more polite.
Theism is not in any way intellectually defensible. Sorry.
