same reason auto technicians should not wear jewelry, it will interfer with their occupation. What would happen if someone were being defibrilated and the jewelry happened metallic? well, the nurse or doctor would stop their own heart while resuscitating the patient. besides that, jewelry carries bacteria, hospitals and doctors office have to maintain a level of sterility, jewelry would compromise this. all beit the necessary accoutrements, a wedding band and a watch, anything else is excessive and garish, not to mention, non-professional. Save your jewelry for after 7. When you go out. Work is not out.

Rings can harbour bacteria underneath them. Earrings if they dangle can get caught in a patients hair or be pulled by an angry patient and get ripped out of your ear. Bracelets are just another thing to get caught in the tubes and bedding or get pulled by a patient.
