Not to mention that of the auto deaths that now take place an average of one every four minutes, 10% are estimated to be intentional homicides (so that's 13,000 murders by auto).

The auto industry has been very active in downplaying punishment for traffic deaths. I think that DUI is assault with a deadly weapon, but there is huge resistance to treating it as such. Your first DUI should be good for at least 5 years hard time.

When their attitude towards alcohol changes. Parents drink and tell their children that they can't and that is bad for you. The stigma and forbidden nature surrounded around alcohol has created this situation. It will not change. With the lack of communication, the family fiber disintegrating, children drown their frustrations and unhappiness in alcohol and drugs. Being a parent is a sacrifice alot of people are not willing to make. America needs to take a look at their priorities and stop expecting the schools to raise their children. The parents need to also stop drinking. Look at your behavior and act responsibly.

Whenever people learn a little about self-control and discipline... Whenever people realize that driving drunk doesn't make them cool, nor does getting the loudest muffler in the neighborhood, or tearing down the road at breakneck paces just to impress their friends...

Whenever people realize that being stupid isn't cool. It's just stupid.

I agree that it's a parent's responsibility to teach their children, especially by their actions. I don't drink & drive. I don't drink, do drugs, swear, or smoke. That is what my daughter has learned by example.~
