My kitten's ears have been getting thinner and thinner hair on them and now they are practically bald. You can see the leathery skin and there are only a few sparse pieces of hair. She does have a case of ringworm below her eye, but i am not sure if the ringworm is making her ear look bald too. It isnt scaly like the one below her eye. Is the "bald ear" thing a kitten thing, genetic, or does it have to do with a medical issue? Is the hair on her ears likely to grow back to normal when she is an adult? Ever since we got her, her ears have have been pretty thin but now they are getting thinner.... Does anybody else have the same problem?

it may have an ear infection or ear mites so you will ned a vet to give you ear meds.
also i hope your treating the ringworm and make sure you dont catch it.

Where did you get the kitty? Shelter, free kitten box in front of a grocery store? Doesn't sound like a breeder, it sounds to me klie this is definitely a medical issue......... could be ringworm, could be ear mites, could be a number of things. I am a HUGE supporter of shelter adoptions, but you can't expect total health either..........
Take kitty to the doc and have it looked at......... it's more than likely ringworm and can use the same meds as the eye, but you want to be sure. Have her microchipped while you are there. (my latest "thing") :)

It most likely is ringworm (fungal infection) spreading or it could be ear mites (if you see your cat scratching at ears) or another sort of skin irritation.
Use the medication you are using on the other ring worm on the ears and see if that fixes it. Look inside your cats ears and see if there is lots of black muck if there is then its ear mites and this can be treated with revolution.

I know with dogs that bald spots can be caused by mites. I'm not sure they can have the same effect on cats but I don't see why they couldn't. Mites also show up mostly on pups that are very young. If your kitten is pretty new you might have your vet check it for mites.
