Average temperature in Los Angeles in July is high of 82, low of 63. It rarely rains that time of year. It is dry and beautiful, just a little on the warm/hot side. If you are traveling to California for the first time, be aware that it is a little more casual than the east coast. Shorts are acceptable most everywhere. Enjoy!

Be sure to dress in layers if you're running around greater Los Angeles visiting various tourist sights. You may be hot in downtown LA. Or absolutely broiling if you take a trek out to Palm Springs. Or, even a bit chilly if you take a walk out on one of the piers at a So Cal beach (it's always windy on the piers.) As someone already mentioned, expect evening temperatures to be wonderful...though, you still might want to have a jacket if you plan to enjoy the rides on the Santa Monica pier or get soaked watching the night time Shamu show down at SeaWorld in San Diego.

The only thing worse than the weather in July is the weather in August.

Expect morning overcast burning off to hazy sunshine in the afternoon early in the month. Later in the month it will hotter than hell in the valleys, but good beach weather. No rain, little humidity. It does cool off at night, mercifully.

Just remember as you poaching in 120 degrees in the shade it's just the price we have to pay for not having snow.

some times the June gloom can linger into July. I remeber more than one July 4 party where it was cool and everyone started to bundle up. It can ans is for the most part hot hot hot. However, I would suggest you wear layers for going out in the evening and the closer to the coast the more likely you may experience overcast skys.

Usually hot but August and September are the really unbearablyl hot months. July is usually not bad. We sometimes have overcast mornings and it warms up in the afternoons in July.
Of course, weather is very unpredictable

Unless you are at the beach, it is HOT and HUMID. Last July there were 21 straight days with highs above 100 degrees F.

Sweltering (probably). BUT it cools down every night. Thats what I LOVE about California. It tends to be a little too warm in the morning, but it cools down VERY much at night. The temp lowers like 30 degrees! You don't get the luxury on the East Coast. If It's 99 in the morning, it "cools" down to 94 at night. *ugh*

I live in LA and its hot! I dont know where your from but its around the 90s and if you go down the the valley it gets to the triple digits, recomendation: carry a light sweater in your car in case your by the beach, even if its hot it can get chilly in santa monica . but other than that bring sunscreen, sunglasses and shorts and t shirts.
