Everybody with good sense, and many without. Should be mandatory, with safety and marksmanship training in the schools.
There are only rough estimates, no hard figures, because thankfully we have not succumbed to the pre-totalitarian ploy of registration.

Estimates currently run from 70,000,000 to 85,000,000 with women becoming the fastest growing segment of gun owners.
Unfortunately I was unable to find anything quickly to substantiate the claim. However places like the ATF or the National Shooting Sports Foundation should have the info.
On the Internet, the comparison of accidental gun deaths verses accidental deaths by doctors is using the number of 80,000,000

Being a gun owner has two meanings. There are those that own (or posses) guns for BAD reasons. And there are those who own guns for "good" reasons: hunting, vermon, protection when necessary.
Just because a LOT of people have guns, don't mean a lot of people are trying to kill you.

Alot. There are no hard firm numbers as not all guns are registered. Lots of Americans have guns - lots of Americans don't. NRA should have some statistics for you.

Hard to say really, millions upon millions I am sure. I own several including many perfectly legal (registered) class III full autos and short barreled rifles.

Sorry, I don't have any credible sources, but as an American myself (and a damn good one at that), I have to protest against other Americans who DO use guns in this country. I don't happen to own a gun, nor do I wish I had one either. I think its the people who own guns that are the ones who make this world an unsafe place, so that just proves that its NOT just the politicians who get away with murder in this country, but don't even for a SECOND think I feel sorry for those who carry guns, because I don't. If that's the way they wanna live . . . so be it, but not even God will have mercy on their souls when something goes wrong. (Forgive my rambling on and preaching. It was unintentional.)
