Find a style that requires minimal use of the blow dryer and curling iron. The less you use them, the better off your hair's condition. Use them sparingly or for special occasions. If you must use a chemical product on your hair, go for the type that is made for your hair type and don't go extreme with color. If lightening your hair, use a color not too much lighter than your original, and only highlight it, don't lighten all your hair. Use styling products that contain no ammonia, sodium hydroxide, or ammonium thyoglicolate. They will, over time, dry out and break down your hair strength. Also, use a shine serum on it to help with fly aways and ends. Eat well, take vitamins, especially a multi, B complex, biotin, and alpha lipoic, and omega 6. Drink lots of water. Eat plenty of protein and SOME fat. Trim your hair, every six to eight weeks religiously.

Avoid the blow dryer.

Avoid as many things as possible that you put in your hair. Mousse, hair spray, what not.

This ain't what you want to hear but my hair breaks and cracks too. When I became Muslim and began to wear the scarf, I found within a year my hair was thicker, healthier and longer than ever. It was the protection from the elements. LOL not that I am proposing you become Muslim to protect the hair no one will see!

All products are not created equal. I do not know what product you use, but next time you get a trim, ask your hairdresser what he can recommend for your problem. That might help. We all find some shampoo and conditioners are more effective than others.

Also, do not forget to consider your diet. Hair and nails are only strong from within. We really are what we eat. Everything else we just stick on top after the damage is done.

Good luck!

The condition known as split ends, technically known as trichoptilosis, occurs when the hair has been stressed too much and the stress frays the ends of the hairstrand. Common causes of trichoptilosis include damage from heat styling, bleaching, coloring, and use of inferior haircare products. Although some products claim to repair split ends, this just isn't true. The only way to get rid of split ends is to cut them off.

Putting less stress on your hair (shampooing only every other day, brushing it only once, staying away from heat) would help.

I put coconut oil on the ends only. Then I brush lightly. I also take 2 tbls. apple cider vinegar in a glass of water 2 x day or as needed. Hair will grow long and strong,. Nails too. I drink 3 gallons of water per day. You would do oikay with juist 6-8 glass per day. Read the apple cider vinegar cures website.

Herbal Essense shampoo and conditioning work well. I dont have split ends or anyy problem with my hair naturally, but my mom has some problems with her hair and that brand works well for her. You can blow dry your hair, but remember to keep the blower at least 8 to 10 inches awat from your hair. Also keep it clean, use shampoo AND conditioner every day, morning or night, you choose it.

Deep condition it regularly with a conditioner with protein. Don't tease your hair and stay away from heat as much as possible. Also, clipping the ends regularly will keep any split ends from worsening.
Also, only deep condition about once a month with the protein because as it strengthens your hair, it can also harden your hair with too much use. After you deep condition, use a moisturizing conditoner.

well, since u know about trims and hair conditioner...do you straighten your hair? You may want to use one with ceramic plates instead..it's better for your hair.

Get a split end mender product, and use it on freshly trimmed ends. It coats them. Also, use a thermal protestant when blow drying, straightening or curling

Don't blow dry your hair, don't dye your hair, and keep away from the sun.
