Eklavya was completely wrong if it was referring to the word of God.
The world sees many things so-called old ways or rituals as archaic or out of date but the truth is that the Holy Bible is the only real truth there is in existence and to imply that by following the bible is old ritual is just wrong in itself.
There are many things that are followed today that have nothing to do with the bible and are followed as rituals and should not be followed anyway.
Very good question but it really deserves much more dialog than this short answer.

yes one should not follow old rituals.
world is changing and we have to change with it.
anything which interferes with human rights and humanity should be erased.
