ok i have a 1980 chevy c10 shortbed pickup and i was wantin to turn it into a drag truck and i was wonderin what do u need to do to it to make it raceable

A truck , a good rule book for your class or buy one for the starting classes at around $12,000.
Go to a track and talk to those is the class you want they will give you advice beyond your dreams
as for the money answers yes it costs but you can do work on it yourself if you can understand the rules.

I guess it all depends on the bracket you are trying to reach.If you are a bracket racer, then make it safe and a good dependable engine tranny ect.I suggest a powerglide to assist on being consistent. Safety first. roll cage, belts,you know the good stuff.
