I used to fully believe in god, but that faith has dwindled like water down a faucet. I physically cannot believe in god today even if I wanted to, there will always be a constant doubt, no Christian I talk to can seem to get that through their heads. They don’t know my situation, they don’t know what I’m thinking, they only assume I’m too thickheaded, like I find the idea of god stupid, like I haven’t had religious views and fundamentals pushed on me since the day I was born. I need something to convince me completely that god exists, which sounds like a lot but it is what I need, and I would imagine if a god exists he will provide that for me. But even with my dwindling faith in god, I still find myself afraid to completely let go of my belief, this is me talking, not gods influence on me, if there is a god.

WHY BELIVE IN GOD?
THE Korean book 31 Reasons Why Young People Leave the Church asserts that many stop going to church because they cannot find satisfying answers to their questions. For instance, they ask, 'Why do people who believe in God suffer?' and 'Why must we accept everything that the churches teach when many of the teachings are confusing and contradictory?'
Disappointed by the answers given by their clergy, many conclude that there is no answer in the Bible. When a clergyman gives an explanation that is based solely on his personal opinion, the result is often a misunderstanding, even a rejection, of God and the Bible....More At http://www.watchtower.org/library/w/2003/12/1/article_02.htm

If you have to question whether there is a God or not then you have already answered it. God gives to every man a measure of faith. You can't touch it, feel it smell, it or eat it. You have to believe. I am sure at one time or another in your life something happened which you knew God had worked out someting in your life. That's what you keep building on, one victory after another, one prayer answered after another. Even in the little things that you may take for granted. You breathe and move in God. Each day you awake; remind yourself that millions of other people did not wake up this morning. For God said if there was no one to praise Him the very rocks and stars would cry out. So you see even they know there is a Creator.
Prove me here now with sayth the LORD of Host if I will not open up a window in heaven and pour you out such a blessing that there will not be enough room for you to contain it. That is found in the last book of the Old Testamant, the Book of Malachi.

You tell us that you did at one time fully believe in God. But, now you have strong doubts. Christians talk to you about Him and don't understand that you just can't accept the idea anymore. This doubt is truly bothering you.
I will tell you what I did about the same problem. I sat down one day when I was all alone and said, God, if you are there and if you are real, please help me love you. He did. He sent some things and people into my life that truly convinced me. Now I have a personal relationship with His Son Jesus, which has grown.
The only thing I know for you to do is tell Him that you don't believe. Tell Him that you would like to believe in Him if, He is there. Then wait. God bless.

In my humble opinion, your belief in God or deity of your choice, is between you and God and no one else. You or I or Steven Hawkins cannot prove his existence without a shadow of doubt. Therefore, I think only you can come to this conclusion. I can merely comment on your perception and offer a different one. The world is looking pretty grim at the moment and throughout the ages for those generations it looked grim as well. But the only thing that makes someone believe in God is faith itself. I look at faith as not a blind educated guess but more of a hope, a hope that there IS something after this screwed up world. So my friend, never give up on hope.

You probably need convictions in lots of other things than God. For instance, whether you are the son of your father or some monkey; whether you should be walking with your head rather than your feet. Intelligent design proves God.
However, you are entitled to doubt whether there is God or not. In similar ways you can disown your biological father or act ungratefully to him. You are only exercising your free will. Note, that it does not take anything away from God if you believe Him or not. He does not need your acknowledgement. You cant even get to see your local rep-yet you talk of the God, maker of the universe like he is your pal and you can do Him a favor. It is your loss if you dont believe He is. Why do you think those who believe do. He gives life and meaning. You are wasting away denying the very source of your being and that is why you sound so angry and confused.
Wake and humble yourself. The starting point is not to in your self pride ask God to appear and prove Himself to you. The starting point is to humble yourself, and request His mercy. As He sees your humble heart He will make Himself real to you. He has not ever failed. Ask true christians

I can definitely understand why you feel the way you do its not very encouraging to hear someone beat you over the head with the bible, impose all there beliefs on you or tell you you need Jesus. However there is a loving god out there that truly does love and care about you as an individual. wants you to know that! His name is Jehovah which means (HE CAUSES TO BECOME). He is the creator of all the universe if you want to get to know a little bite more about him go to the website below and type in does god really care about us in the bottom right corner.

Only one way to find out if God exists; DIE. Other than that pray that he will reveal himself to you as you wisely said that "if a god exists he will provide that for me (you)". I'm praying that he will show himself to you and myself while there is still time. I have my doubts at times also but come back to the HOPE that there is something there better than what I see in this physical existence. I feel your pain and am going through it at this time.Feel free to email me outside of this forum and perhaps we can help each other with some solid answers. May god move on you n a powerful way.
I have had things happen in my life that totally convince me that there is a God (feel free to email me outside this forum).

You're going in the right direction.
Don't struggle to believe. You may be fortunate enough to have a natural sense of skepticism. That's a good thing.
Rather than trying to make yourself believe the things that you think you're supposed to believe, let yourself think about, and find out about, the truth about the universe. Accept reality, rather than trying to force a particular vision of it on yourself.
It's natural and normal to be afraid to fully let go of your belief. Don't worry about that too much; it will pass with time, as you learn more and think more about the matter. You'll no longer be afraid in the end.

Hon, you're asking a impressive style of questions. for human beings to reply to all of those, it would take some 0.5 hour of time. you need to to interrupt it down slightly and you'd be happier with the youngsters of responses you're getting. i might prefer to handle #11. I used to think of that too. My older brother makes use of that via fact the reason he won't grow to be an Atheist. fact is, our ethical habit isn't dependant on perception in god. a pair of things here: human beings are not the only beings that behave morally. Many, many smart species have a ethical code and don't have faith in god. Elephants will undertake orphans at large own fee. canines have been time-commemorated to mourn a pal to the factor of dying. Apes have complicated ethical codes that handle stealing, sexual habit, and that they even demonstrate a complicated humorousness. If perception in god is needed for a ethical code, why are the crime expenses in predominanatly Atheistic worldwide places so low. Sweden, Finland, Japan all have Atheism expenses at 50% or extra ideal and yet their crime fee is a lot below ours. Morality isn't depedent on a perception in god. attempt sorting out a e book on the library with the aid of Richard Dawkins, "The God fable." He is going into this lots extra eloquently than I. those are solid questions. save asking them. IF there have been a god, why might he concern uncomplicated, perplexing questions?

People have been trying for 2500 years to prove the existence of god, and nobody has come close to doing so. My own view is that it is impossible. It is similarly impossible to prove that god does not exist; it follows from that that no theory of god can have any consequences in the real world: all such theories are useless. For much more on this, see:
