I've volunteered at an animal shelter but left after an animal that wasn't really feral was put down with the excuse it was. It also had kittens, which were put in with another momma cat that had kittens that were much younger and were beat up by the new kittens. Nobody cared.

Where I live there aren't many environmental conservation efforts, and a hybrid car is so extremely ouf of my budget. The nearest public transport is 30miles away.
