There is no draft, nor will there be. Don't worry about it. We don't need you

It would all depend on how they reinstated the draft (if they ever do). The politicians could put in something to protect college students if they wanted to.

The idea behind that is to protect the people who will be graduating and finding jobs that help the economy. Also, there have been times in the past where some very smart people were drafted and sent into fighting and died. Who knows how much we have lost from that?

The downside to this is that pretty much only the rich are able to get into the colleges. This is especially true if a draft came about. Everybody would want into a college. The Ivy League schools would be swamped and the people with money would be trying to get their kids into whatever school they could find. That would mean severe competition. Thanks to our education system today, if you are poor then odds are you have a lower education. The higher competition would mean that the kids from poorer families would have a harder time getting into the schools. This means that they are available for the draft. Sort of a sick game of musical chairs.

In any event, a draft would not help the US's military situation. There are some who say that it would dilute the strength of our military.

It used to, what happened was if you were in college you would not be drafted to Vietnam. Now if the draft was brought back what it would be is a lottery system which was the same as back then but you would have the semester to finish and then you would be drafted unless you were a senior and then you could finish out the semester and join before you are drafted and hope to get a commission. The draft however does not apply to Masters and Doctorate students, as that is high education and most would fall outside the lines of age, of course assuming they keep the same age limits as with Vietnam.

There is no draft (yet). In certain circumstances going to college will excuse you from the draft. But if there was a draft if you come from a rich family you will not need to worry

Well, there is no US military draft anymore.

When there was a draft, a college deferment was available but depended on what the student was studying and what his grades where. If you were failing your classes in Basket Weaving, you would not get the deferment.

The U.S. military is at present overstaffed, meaning there are one of those huge quantity of people that favor to signal up willingly, that some are being grew to develop into away only for having very weak credit. i do no longer imagine you've were given to problem about it, yet if you find yourself laying off sleep over it, such issues as knee and reduce back issues look recurring sufficient to save someone out of wrestle.
