Probably the best way to develop an American accent is to watch US television and talk with native American speakers. Also, you can look for American websites that have audio.
Start small... pick a word or two and try to imitate it. Or even a sound!
What nationality are you? I ask because there are some languages (American included) that have sounds which are very tough to master.

some do like them.
