Americans are not against immigration!!!! Americans know that the US is a melting pot.

Americans are against ILLEGAL immigration!!!! If you want to live and work in the US then you should become an American citizen like all the millions of other immigrants did when they came to the US to get a better life!

You are misguided. I don't know of people who are against immigration. I only know of those who are against ILLEGAL immigration. As someone else here said, this question has been asked exactly as you asked it at least 100 times already! Before you ask your question, you should search it here first. If it has already been asked, then you should just peruse the answers the question generated the other 99 times it was asked. However, I think you knew very well what you were saying here when you asked this question and you also knew very well the answers you would get. Did you have fun, then? I hope so.

Do you know any LEGAL immigrants? You know, people who waited years, and paid alot of fees to move here and function in America society the right and legal way?Why don't you ask them what they think about the illegal invasion.

ILLEGAL immigration for the millionth time on Y Answers is the problem. Not immigration.

Condemning the frightened working-class white guys organizing citizens' militias along our southern border, or vilifying those who listen to Limbaugh and are convinced that "liberals" are in some sort of collective plot to undermine America may feel good, but it doesn't address the real problem. Progressives will be most effective when we reach across the divides created by Bush, Specter, et al, and point out how this is really all about corporate conservative efforts to replace the American middle class with a workforce of "working poor" Americans and powerless illegal immigrants (or powerless "amnestied" workers) - all so CEOs can fatten their paychecks and further reward the "conservative" investor class.

Only then will Mexico and other countries to our south have an incentive to get their own houses in order, and will our middle class begin to recover decent bargaining power and the living wages that accompany it.

The vast majority support people immigrating.

But they do have a problem with illegal immigration
and with too much legal immigration for the economy to support.

IMMIGRATION...is controlled by all countries.
IMMIGRANTS.....apply for authorization to immigrate to "x" country
ILLEGAL ALIEN ...is term used to describe individuals who enter a country WITHOUT authorization. These individuals choose to BREAK the defined LAWS governing ENTRY and residence.
Illegal entry is a crime subject to punishment.
.....People are not against immigration :People are against Illegal aliens as they chose to break the law to achieve their desires.
(same rational used by the car thief who steals a car because he wants/needs it..)
By the way, There is no such thing as an illegal immigrant!!! the term illegal immigrant is an oxymoron (immigrants HAVE legal status)

I don't know anyone who is "against immigration" just mass illegal immigration. Why?

Maybe it's because there are 20,749,556 illegals in the United States. Or maybe it's because $21,896,418,966 has been wired to Mexico since January of 2006.

Perhaps it's the nearly $400 BILLION (not million, BILLION with a B) of tax payer money that has been spent on social services for illegals. Or...the $1,386,945,577 we've spent on incarcerating illegals.

Or maybe it's just the nearly 10 million skilled jobs illegals have stolen from American citizens.

Legal immigration, right sized not to strain our schools and social services, is fine. Illegal immigration and mass immigration of poor people too poor to pay for their family's education and services means a huge drain on the services we fund and need for ourselves. Illegal immigration is ruining our children's schools and futures.
