Visit your doctor. Explain this and inquire about ADDERALL XR.
It's a stimulant which jogs awake the part of your brain which governs attention.
Both my children take it because, like you, they cannot focus.
They are doing so well....it's been a godsend.
I went to school in the "olden days" before they knew anything about ADHD (attention deficit disorder) so every year my parents heard the same things.....I was bright but didn't APPLY myself. It was very discouraging.
If your doctor says it's poo-poo......see a different doctor. It is not poo-poo.

P.S. Omega-3 is said to increase concentration.
Also, 20mg of protein at breakfast and 20mg of protein at lunch is proven to increase concentration as well.
Proper sleep and exercise can help a lot too!

oh yay tell the kid they have ADD or ADHD so that they take meds for it and they will be fine BullS***
ok now it may work, but it also may have side effects, which aren't always worth it.
If you're worried about atttention deficit disorder then see a doctor.
I couldnt concentrate in school or much of anything when i was younger, that's probably not changed LOL.. but i didnt even make yr10 to see how much i actually sucked, my bad!
..Struggle to answer questions and keep sense, oh wait that's cos i'm a raving lunatic.
I have never been tested for ADD and i think they would just tell me i'm lazy or something.
But you can get memory pills, there is some kind of vitamin type thing that can help with memory and concentration. I'd be looking in the healthfood/vitamins section at the supermarket, or you could go to a chemist or maybe a healthfood store.
Good luck

Try some vitamins and skip the drugs! B vites, especially B12 gives you energy and helps your brain too. Be sure to eat good food and get plenty of sleep. Your brain cannot function without sleep! Very often poor diet causes things that appear like ADHD but they're trying to say just about everyone has ADHD today so I think it has more to do with the nutrition. EVERYONE can't have the same thing and in record numbers! I also think people are getting way too much brain stimulation from video games, computers, TV etc. Try taking some time (even 10 minutes!) a say to just sit quietly and let your mind relax. Try meditating. When random thoughts come into your mind just let them float by and your mind will learn how to slow down.

I would say that it would be best to find a learned solution to your problem, before resorting to being another pill-popping american.
Everyone likes to say they are a certain way and can't be changed unless a pill goes in and changes the brain.
The way to change your brain is in the way you create it. You make your own life. Your brain is only what you are making it to be. If you are jumping from activity to activity, active to passive, of course your brain isn't going to learn to relax, concentrate and reason logically.
If your problem is caused in the brain , like you claim, that does not mean that you are powerless to change it. It might mean you can choose to be powerless against change, but you are not forced. It's your life. If you want something, really really want it, it will happen. If you really want to concentrate, you can I'm sure.
If you have a hard time concentrating for a long time, you can try concentrating for short amounts of time, and working up from there.
I did it. I had a serious attention defecit after damaging my brain in an accident. I was in a coma, and after that, had the attention span literally of a baby, that's where my brain was at. After years of work, and it was hard work, I have been able to regain concentration and focus.
My suggestions for you - eliminate distractions. Turn your TV off, your music off, get friends out, get everything out of your life but homework in the evenings after school. That's what I did for my last two years of college. It was way boring. No life. No fun. I just went to school, came home, did homework. Oh, and went to the gym - not for fun though. For physical fitness.
My life was hard. Walking was hard, talking was hard. But I was so determined for life to be good again, and so excited that I was getting it back, that it kept me going. I graduated with honors from college. I did better than I did back when I had a brain that worked. I wished I would have known then what I had learned.
Everything good in life has a price with it. Decide now what you want and learn what the price is. The price of a good life is a good education. The price of a good education is giving it your very best. That's more important than fun in the long run.

Get checked out for sleep apnea.I have it and suffered the same problem you have.Do you snore and wake up feeling like you haven't slept or do you often wake with headaches?Or maybe you need to eat more healthier.Stay away from fast food, foods high in fat and processed foods and foods with dye in it.These are not good for your brain and can interfere with mood and concentration.Instead take vitamins go to GNC and ask them which are best for you,eat home cooked food(nothing from a can or a box)such as vegetables, white meat such as chicken and you can have carbs which are pastas, rice and potatoes.Stay away from margarine as it is Partially Hydrogenated and extremely bad for you use butter instead. Also the only safe cooking oil to use is Canola oil and Olive oil,all the other oils are Partially Hydrogenated as well which has been linked to Alzheimers disease and cancer.I hope you start feeling better, and I'm sure you will once you make some changes.I just noticed your a kid still in School and wanted to inform you that the main ingredient in Retelin is meth which is also the main ingredient used to make illegal street drugs. So if you are seen by a doctor about this he will most likely diagnose you as having attention defecit disorder and therefore prescribe you this drug which I believe leads to future drug dependancy.Doctors are no brainers who just like to prescribe drugs instread of fixing the problem. So be aware.

See if you can get prescribed Adderall or Dexedrine, the former has helped me out immensely but I'm thinking about switching to the latter because it has less negative side effects and I'm developing too much tolerance to the Adderall.

Chances are that you're thinking about something else, and rather intently. Being in love is a classic cause, but there are mental distractions of all sorts. You may not be able to sort it out yourself if the cause is not obvious.
