More than 10 % of the population is allergic to codeine. You are one of them. Tell your doctor. He/she will give you another prescription.

Just a comment, not a big deal but nausea/vomiting is not an allergic reaction, it's a side affect. Something like a rash or not being able to breath after taking the med is an allergic reaction. But codeine, as mentioned before, is a narcotic simply because it's an opiate derivative. It's used mostly as a cough suppressant and dizziness and nausea/vomiting are just a few of the unfortunate side affects that some people will have when taking the med. Just tell your doctor that you're not liking the side affects and they'll prescribe something else.

Codeine is in a class of drugs called narcotic analgesics. It relieves moderate-to-severe pain. Codeine is also a cough suppressant and an antidiarrheal medication. Being narcotic based, this is why it can make you dizzy and drowzy. If you are feeling sick after taking it, you may be having an allergic reaction.
