No. Word is not part of WIN 98, it is part of Microsoft Office. If you have a Word disc, or and office disc, such as Word 6 or newer, or Office 95 or newer, it will install, but, I repeat, Word is not on the Win 98 disc. Windows installations may include limited time demos of office programs only.

My WinXP computer came with a limited "Demo" of microsoft word. I WAS able to take the microsoft office disc from Win98 and put it onto this computer and use word and powerpoint, etc.
Just fair warning, it retains the Win98 look so you wont have the snazzy WinXP menu bars or the option to switch to thumbnail view if you're saving or opening a folder.

Do you mean can you load a word document from Windows 98 to the current XP Office? The answer is yes.. If you mean, can you load the version of Office that was out in 1998 on XP, the answer is no.. Hope that helps..
