Depends on the state in which you live, some permit recording conversations between individuals with out a warrant while others don't. Phone companies don't record phone messages so expect them to help.
Look into your local law to guide you.

It is possible that your calls can be listened to and / or recorded on a cell phone or any kind of a cordless phone, because all you have to do is find the operating frequency of the phone. They are all broadcasting just like a radio station. Anyone tuned to that frequency, on a scanner, or baby monitor, or other electronic device, whether by accident or intentionally can hear you loud and clear, and record it if they want to. Only a land line phone can't be intercepted, unless someone puts a tap on your wires or they do it at the phone company in accordance with a warrant. With the Patriot Act in effect, they don't even bother with that anymore. So always assume someone may be listening and don't say anything you don't want to come back to haunt or hang you later.

That could be a little complicated. You can call your phone company, or register on-line. Then you can access a list of calls made on that phone (or recived) They do sell cell phone recorders, but they are a little pricy. They keep phone records and even used them at some trials. Or get a voice recorder. Cheap at wal-mart or some store. put it up to the phone or record your friend. if you can find evidence that the guy is making threats, or your friend sounds distraught, take it in to authorities. Best of luck.

No, unfortunately (or fortunately for those of us who enjoy our privacy) your cell phone calls, and land line calls ARE NOT recorded or archived for future reference without your phone lines being tapped or otherwise under surveillence. That would be a HUGE invasion of privacy if they were archived without our prior consent and is a frivolous waste of time and resources unless deemed otherwise by a Judge.
Your phone carrier will have a record of date, time, phone number connected to, and duration of the call. There are some options as far as monitoring your calls and recording them. Start by calling your service provider. Hope this helps.

Who do you think recorded the calls? Your cell company does not record them. If you called the police, they record what you say. They destroy the tapes 30 days or so later.

The numbers you called and the numbers that called your phone are recorded but not the conversations themselves.
There is nothing stopping YOU from recording any future calls though.

Do you know how much memory space that would take to save that much conversation? No they do not record them. The do record phone data IE time, dates, length of call originator etc...

They aren't recorded. It would be nice when you needed this info. but the ACLU and other lawyers would go nuts if this was going on. The only way your calls are being recorded is if you are very big fish in an ongoing investigation.
