After doing a quick look online, and talking to a friend of mine from Toronto; you should be able to pick it up at the local drug store/pharmacy.. Just be careful with it's use.. Always remember:
Normally Syrup of Ipecac should not be given at home if:
The patient is less than one year old or
Corrosives (lye, drain cleaners, oven cleaners, automatic dishwasher detergent, or other strong acids or bases) have been taken or burns are seen around or in the mouth or
A petroleum distillate-containing product (kerosene, gasoline, paint thinner, furniture polish, etc.) has been taken or
The patient is lethargic (sluggish), asleep, or commatose (unconscious) or
The patient is convulsing
Always call a family doc or poison control before giving, good luck!

Yes syrup of ipecac is available in Canada; in Ontario, at most Shopper's Drug you can get by asking the pharmacist... it is NOT available without asking the pharamicist as individuals with eating disorders were abusing the ipecac. Please tell me you're not planning to use it for this purpose!

please don't do that to yourself, you can't take ipecac regularly, it is meant to flush poison out of your system. seriously, my friend and I were in the same position a few years ago when we were young and stupid, we bought it took some and thought it wasn't doing anything so we took some more, and ten minutes later we were both in the bathroom in so much pain from vomiting uncontrollably. also the **** smells like maple syrup so i couldn't eat pancakes or waffles for like a year after that. horrible idea. just eat healthy and exercise, simple, cliched, but it works.

From what I heard, Ipecac is being phased out in the US. You should be able to find it in a pharmacy, probably an independent one, not a chain.

Syrup of ipecac is no longer being used as a general remedy.....it is no longer in most EMS protocols....in the event of accidental ingestion, call emergency number, poison control,or hospital and relay ingestion information(what they took), to them and receive instructions on how to proceed.

As my FF/EMT friend here said, you need to call EMS when you have a Poison Emergency. When you induce vomiting and a person loses consciousness, they can aspirate and now you have a life threatening emergency on top of the poison.

Unless things have changed since my kids were small.... at the pharmacy... Ask the pharmacist. It should be available over the counter but finding something you're not familiar with can be a daunting task, Your phamacist should be able to point it out...Also, it may be behind the counter because of "fear of theft" at your local drug store. " Don't be shy or timid at your pharmacy-Ask and they will help you....
