Depends on the nurse and the doctor, some doctors do not respect nurse and some do. Working together is best for the patient and everyone involved.

LOL! That depends on which doctor you ask! Many people see nurses as just a supportive role to the doctor, but many times a nurse has direct care with the patient and sometimes see stuff a doctor misses. Most of the time doctors are great with nurses, but other times ( as in any proffesion) you run into some doctors who have a God complex. As a whole nurses need doctors juat much as doctors need nurses. If they work together the patient will recieve the best care possible.

I find it sad that my chosen profession has such a pathetic image. However, medical education has changed to focus more on the patient, and hopefully you will see this with younger docs.

I see the nurse and the physician as part of the healthcare team, working together to help restore the health of the patient, and when that is not possible, to help them die with as much dignity as possible. A good doctor should know what is going on with his patients, not only with their condition but their lives in general.

I view the role of the nurse to be a kind compassionate person that provides the hands on aspect of care while monitoring conditions. The doctor tends to occupy a more neutral position, working from a more or less detached perspective providing care from afar.
