You do have another alternative. Go to www.openoffice.org and download their FREE programs. They have programs that are compatible with Microsoft Word, Excel & Power Point.

The advantage of using the open office program is that it will allow you to make changes to the Power Point presentations that you receive. The Power Point Viewer will not allow you to make or save any changes.

It's worth your time to check out the openoffice website.

Sounds like you don't have Powerpoint. There is something called the Powerpoint viewer -- a small program from MS that will let you view PPT files but not open or edit them.
