I recenty travelled to Asia and withrew $ several times using my ATM card. Before the trip I scheduled a online payment for my credit card bill which would happen few days before I came back . When I returned and used my card 1 week later, I discovered the bank had blocked my card and all transactions I had entered into the system before my trip, including my credit card payment which should have happended a week before.

As soon as I knew the problem (which the only notification from the bank was a message on my account online access page), I paid my overdue credit card immediately. But it was still a late payment, and the credit card charged me interest. And because it is calculated based on the daily balance and I was travelling in that month, the inrerest was pretty high. To make the matter worse, I have to pay interest 2 months in a row (due to residual interest).

Now I want to ask my bank to pay me back the interest I had to pay the credit card. How should I convince them?

You will only be able to convince them to do so if it is in their best interest, i.e. they will lose a lot of money. If they will not lose a lot of money by not doing so, they will not meet your demands. Banks do not care about you or your situation. They only care about your money. If you can figure out a creative approach that ties in lots of money and your situation, they MIGHT be willing to work with you.
