Hey, I'll probably be purchasing a used 350z sometime in the near future and I have done some research on the tire wear issue. From what I understand the 350z's tire wear issue was resolved on the '05+ right? Were the '05 z's decently built, I mean has anyone else heard about any problems w/ them besides the usual maintenence. thx

this prbly doesn't belong in this section but say I just got my license 5 months ago and I would be getting a 350z. I know you can't estimate my insurance cost since it differs but should I be expecting to pay around $600-700?

Dont buy a 350Z for your first car.

Your gonna crash it into stuff. You need to drive a beater around for a while until your a good driver. Nothing worse than an inatentive, unexperienced, young driver behind the wheel of a car that they cant handle.

Oh, and your insurance....your gonna be looking at $3k - $5k a year. Since your only 16 and the 350 is classified as a sports car.

Your insureance company is going to rape you... sorry, but I've been there and done that, when I owned an 81 280zx with turbo, I don't remember the exact price but I remember it was outrageous!

As for your first car purchase, congratulations! And nice choice, however, always keep your eye's on the road whenever you are behind the wheel, take it from my expeirience, because the slightest second that your eyes leave the road, you could rear end someone, or run off the road, been there done that too!

I think the 350z is an awesome purchase, and would have one now if I could afford the extra debt, after all, a car is a liability, not an asset. because you will never get what you pay for it out of even if you try to sell it the day you buy it.

Whatever you decide to do, just keep the rubber side down.

I am pretty sure the problem was resolved in the 04's. I had one of the 03's that had this problem. It was horrible. After 7,000 miles, the tires were gone. I had to replace them. It almost was enough for me to sell the car. In the beginning they just told everyone it was because of how they drove the car. About 6 months later, they gave me a refund on the amount of money I spent on the new tires. They also fixed the alignment. I had the car for another 60,000 miles and never had an issue again. The 05's will be no problem. It's a great car, I miss it. I have a Crossfire SRT-6 right now and next year hopefully a BMW Z4 Coupe.

As for insurance. I got my Z around my 21st birthday, I paid about $230.00 a month for insurance. Just make sure to shop around.

The feathering issue (tire wear) was fixed with a TSB and it's also been adressed on the 04+ models.

As for your insurance, it's generally a rule that teenagers with sport cars are high risk clients. Prepare to pay premium insurance for full coverage. The reason for that is that you do not have enough driving experience to be behind a car that can go stupidly fast and insurers are taking notice of the high fatality rate among teens with these types of cars.

Hopefully this helps.
