Without making this too long..... I've been dating this guy for a while, but we aren't completely together due to complicated lives(we are both going through divorce). We just recently started having sex, and I'm worried maybe some of the excitement has worn off and he's withdrawing.
Here is a brief recap of this past weekend.
I text him sat. to ask why he hadn't called for the last couple days. He said he was giving me space. I told him he sould be invading my space(kinda of fun like). He wrote back that he's trying to do whats best for me(probably because of my divorce situation).
After a few more texts like that, I started thinking maybe he was trying to get out of our relationship. So I wrote, "if this is what you really want tell me, and I'll walk away." He wrote back "you need to relax, we'll talk on wed."(because we work together). Then we didn't call or write until today when I wrote him "I love you", and he wrote back "I love you too".
I'm confused. Does he want out?

Dear Jill
How can you be this relaxed going through a divorce. Most people would not be thinking of a new relation ship this soon.
Most of the time it is better to wait Little after a divorce. You two jumped into it too soon. I'm jealous. I'm still waiting till the divorce is final. X can make your and his life miserable. Some people try and get back together when they find out they made a mistake separating. There new love isn't what they thought. The odds are against you and him making a committed relationship. To me enjoy it while you can with your eyes and brain open to the odds. When going through a divorce your ego is at a all time low. I would say no matter what happens enjoy where you are in this moment and do not lose your heart. Just have a good time. Do not get pushy with him if he needs his space give it to him. His x may be given him a hard time and he is thinking about why she is acting up. He said he loves you let it go with that. When us men have some thing bothering us we have to work it out first . Men can only do one thing at a time for the most part. If his x is giving him hell he doesn't want to have you think it is you he is upset with. When some thing is really bothering us we need to take care of it before we can move on to be loving on some one else. Our feelings do not change that quick. Good luck and have fun

It probly is the divorce issues on his mind, or the sex that just started up. Sometimes when a guy says he's giving you space he actually means it. But from the sound of your response (good comeback btw) there isn't any reason on your side why he should be giving you space. In fact, it sounds like

The sex could be it. You 2 probly joked and teased and hinted about it for awhile before it happened, but that first time can cause some confusion in his head. Could be he's trying to figure out who he is now, or where you 2 are going. Maybe you're more into the sex or the relationship than he is?

Anyway, guess you'll have to wait until tomorrow to find out, but I doubt it's that the excitement has worn off. Sex after a breakup is really hot! And if you guys just started it's probly all he thinks about.

Try not to worry. If he says to relax then he's noy planning on dropping any bombs on you.

If you're both "going through" but not finished with a divorce, I'd seriously consider putting the relationship on hold until the divorces are final. Think about it: both of you are ending a marriage. No matter how bad or ill-conceived each marriage was, they are still marriages. A divorce is a complicated legal, emotional and financial situation that can be very draining. Resolving those situations (finishing the divorces) should be the most important thing for both of you.
He might need some space from you because of his situation. Putting pressure on him and coming off as desperate (which it sounds like you did) is the wrong thing to do.
I think that your problems might be larger than this particular situation. I know that you probably can't see this but I suggest that you find a therapist or counselor to talk to.

No! He's not trying to get rid of you. Next time don't text him those words. Those words are not as meaningful in text as in person! That way you can both see each other and see each other's body expression. (Technology sucks) Why do you want him to call you everyday? He's just being respectful by not calling you every hour of the day so what's wrong with that? You're confused, but the important thing is that you're still interested in him.
